So... I never expected two LJ entries to reference the Mighty Ducks in a row, and I hadn't thought anything about the trilogy since I last watched it, but last night I had some lucid dreaming. My brain decided that I was going to dream about a fourth installment of the film franchise of hockey playing characters and I was able to guide it to a point... and it was a LONG dream, it had to take place over three hours or so... So movie length even.
While the trilogy had a few weaknesses (mostly bad writing in the third one and a propensity for 90's disney tropes of slapstick and stuff), the characters were well written and enjoyable so it was interesting for my brain to try and figure out where they'd be as adults and how they would cope with evil machinations in the world at large. I could feel myself trying to make sure I had checked them all off in my brain as I half directed the dreaming.
Aside from dreams I spend almost all my time at work, preparing for work or recovering from work. It's not too bad, a lot better than most jobs, but any job is going to leave you feeling fatigued and most full time jobs make you wonder why in the world life needs us to devote 5/7ths of our lives just to survive the other 2/7ths. The last two days I wondered how I'd make it through another work day but then I do it. Thank god for breaks and lunches and that my job isn't worse, it's just a job.
Slowly, when I have time for family time, my family is finishing our rewatch of "3rd Rock From the Sun" on DVD. It's interesting timing given that Joseph Gorden-Levitt has had his meteoric return to films with Inception, 50/50, Dark Knight Rises and now Looper. Also, between the end of 3rd Rock and now Kirstin Johnston lapsed into alcoholism and pills, went to rehab, got all better and has been sober for six years before writing a book and giving advice to try and help others.
I added a few shows to my seasonal viewing, primarily Revolution and "Go On". "Go On" replaces the short lived "Mr. Sunshine" with Matthew Perry in both, though I appreciate the new show's depth more than the former and hope it lasts longer than one season. I may be the only one that enjoys his odd mix of different emotions. I also wish Outsourced had lasted more than one season. Also, Gravity Falls is the most awesome thing ever and I am sad there isn't more.
I am going to try my hardest to buy a dishwasher in 1.5 weeks, though first we have to fix our kitchen sink to rectify the water pressure issue. Working full time makes chores impossible and I just... have no desire to spend my limited time off catching up what my parents have all day to attempt. I found a portable on Walmart's website that got 91% positive reviews. That's unheard of on their website, lol. It's also free to ship it to their store, so yay for that... though how they get it from the store to our truck is another issue.
I'm behind everyone else on Borderlands I think. I haven't had the time to sink into it. For me it's more of an aesthetic exploration than a gaming experience. The first half of the first game, I found, was just remarkably beautiful in an odd eclectic way and then the second half was almost ugly and harder to navigate. This one seems to be staying between the two extremes. The soundtrack isn't as impressive, but there are drastic improvements in the variety of mission types and how everything interacts. I think it's worth the money, but I would have enjoyed it more when I was unemployed. EDIT: Okay, I just got to my favorite environment type. Huzzah!
I guess that's all for now folks.
