7:00 am on the south end of the 2 mile course, the morning sun lights up the water.
Passing the crowd on the last full lap, Brandon breaks a smile.
Brandon's wife ran into the water to greet him and with support staff helped extract him from the kayak. He hugged his dad and then pretty much collapsed on the ground. After about 20 minutes he was able to stand again.
After developing a crack earlier in the event, the custom kayak was able to be repaired in time to be used in all but 5 hours of the 24.
