BAH! I hate having no money. To save people's friends pages being clogged up with just how much I hate it, Ive been a good little girl and put it behind a live journal cut. It really is a long sweary rant so dont feel obliged to read it but, if you're a glutton for punishment or have even less of a life than me ;), go ahead here it is

I had a situation once where I was working through an agency.
I didn't get my pay.
I phoned the agency and they said the company had claimed I didn't work the claimed hours.
I phoned the company and they said the agency was lying
I asked them to phone the agency, they said 'no'
I asked the agency to phone the company, they said they would.
Time passed, still no money, whenever I phoned the agency they would say they were dealing with it and they'd get in touch with me when the company had paid them, etc, etc

Basically I just got bounced about.
My mistake was trying to correct the problem over the phone.
People invariably can, and do, dodge the blame (and the work)
In the end I sent the agency a letter saying words to the effect of -

'Dear agency,
I don't give a flying fuck if the company has paid you or not, you are my employer and as such have a legal obligation to pay me on time.
If I don't receive payment within 14 days I will initiate proceedings at an employment tribunal'

Obviously I worded it a bit more diplomatically than that - but you get the point :)
Sent by recorded delivery, you have proof they received the letter, so they can't worm out on that.

Check with the citizens advice people - but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have to deal with the payroll company if they are an external organisation - if they fuck up its your companies job to sort it out not yours.

Oh and another thing - make sure you know people that can testify you worked the hours in question.
Obviously you don't want to have to take it to a tribunal - but you have to call their bluff.
Once you've sent them a letter everything they do excepting pay you is opening themselves to a whole world of legal buggery.

If all you do is phone they can deny you ever even contacted them.
