I dont think my special lady friend is going to make it to the full 40 weeks.

Way to go, Returning Jeopardy Champion, James Erwin.
That rolls off the tongue as though it was always meant to be.
Recently I've been thinking about favorite gifts that I have been given over the years.
I still use a few of the gifts from the wedding. Probably more than I realize, as many of the things we registered were practical, kitchen/home type things that I already had, but Mary wanted new versions that had never lived through Dieter, Matt and Mateo. Probably because, as it has been pointed out to me, I married a girl.
The knife set was from Steve W's Parents and the killer crock pot was from Matt S's parents. we also got the air mattress that we explained would be for the use of whomever gets it for us, so long as we still lived in Vegas and they needed a place to stay in Vegas. So yeah, Dan and Teresa got it for us. and didnt come to Vegas until about 2 weeks before we moved away, and stated at the Flamingo. (good choice- air matress is nice, but Flamingo was closer to the convention they were attending at the Flamingo)
I got a big bag of Pistachios from my parents for Christmas once when I told them that was all my heart really longed for. My heart hearts pistachios.
More than once, I have been given a pocketwatch as a gift. More than once, I have been told that it was because I an the type of person who should have a pocketwatch. I still have all my pocketwatches. But I dont use them. I'm actually the type of person who leaves early so I know I'll be on time. I dont carry a watch, unless I remember that there is a clock on my phone.
I was given two 1L bottles of Crown Royal Cask No 16 by one of my clients in Vegas. He was the guy who sold booze to the casinos. I took care of him any time he called, and asked about his baby after she was born, and it would seen that he appreciated the service, because those bottles are not cheap. He once told me that he had over $50,000 (retail value) of booze in his garage. He called it leverage. It would be used to sweeten the deals with the casinos. as I recall, thats why I couldnt write his home insurance, Neat guy.
(I went to get a drink of it midway thru typing that)
When I was graduating from high school, someone who I played with in the band gave me a necklace with a plastic trinket on it, explaining that it was a prized possession of hers and she had worn it daily for years and she gave it to me saying that she was going to miss me and that I was apparently far more impactful in her life than I had realized and then started to cry. I was very moved. few years later, I was invited to her wedding- so I packaged her necklace and a prized necklace that i had crafted and worn for years in 2 matching boxes for her and her new husband and then, like a chump, forgot to bring them with me.
I have a copy of the Giving Tree that I was given by a woman who lived in the same nursing home as my Great Grandmother. I used to go see her every time I visited. I was young enough that I probably made up some of the details, but I remember her giving me the book along with my choice of seashells that she had displayed on her table. I still have the shell, but I gave the book away.
I think that the reason that i have been thinking about gifts is because of the wonderful gift that I am about to receive from the universe. I'm getting a new reason to live. and her name is...pretty darn cute.
Mommy is calling for me. so I'm done typing now.
there were more gifts that came to mind and made the list in my head, but not in time to show up here. I appreciate them, and thank you for them.
