I know some of you are gonna laugh and find this trivial, but I was almost in a three car accident today. A bad one. It seems a brown truck on the other side of the highway going in the opposite direction from me tried to change lanes, lost control, jumped the median, hit a car, spun out and then hit another vehicle(a red truck). A truck right in front of me. Luckily, I saw the brown truck when it bounced over and watched as it hit the first car, the vehicle in front of me braked and so did I but the truck in front of me still got hit and then it, along with broken car pieces, came right towards me. I realized me braking wasn't going to enough. I was going to be hit it seemed. So I swerved, went off the road on the right down the side of the dirt incline, over the curb and across Bataan Memorial Road. I stopped at what looked to be a mechanic's shop. I was so lucky that there were no cars coming down Bataan Memorial. I would've been hit square on the passenger's side of my car.
Weirdly, I was really calm through all of this. It's probably what saved me. That and my lovely car which can turn on a dime and maneuver like a dream. I mean, I had only one hand on the wheel. The other one was holding a smoothie to my mouth! My mind was working without me. I watched as the machinery came right at me and I went around it. It was like...I knew I could get around it. And I never let go of that damn smoothie.
Afterwards, I couldn't remember a whole lot. Not until just now as I started to type it out. Is that shock? And just think, earlier, when I was driving TOO the gym (I was just returning from the gym) I was admiring the warm weather and the blue skies. I had my top down, the wind was blowing in my face and I felt good. So good that I looked at the sky and said, "Thank you, Lord. Thank you for giving me today."
Looks like she gave me another one, huh?
And you know what else? I had my top down (I drive a convertable Beetle). If I'd have been hit...who knows.
Of course, the Beetle has a bar that pops out the top if I tilt too far in one direction.
Still...
