Get Out! Of The Closet! Premieres!

Houston, TX April, 2 2010

With a full house at the Rice University Media Center... Get Out! Of The Closet! was given an enthusiastic send off tonight. Many luminaries of the Houston creative community were in attendance and Episode 1 was very well recieved.

The politically incorrect, irreverent, anti-reality show features the exploits of Natalie "Natty Ice" O'Sullivan and her erstwhile producer Barry Gordon-Lightfoot as they travel the country helping families and friends get their loved ones "Out". This is Barry's first show and watching the two figure out how to out people intervention style... for better or worse... is where the magic happens.

In the pilot Gordon-Lightfoot and Natty help a mother who believes her son is gay. Natty is not the kind of girl who takes "no" for an answer and Brian is in for a life changing experience.

The pilot was delivered to web outlets, iTunes and set-top boxes as the premiere screening took place. The web launch was also supported by an aggressive social media and guerilla marketing campaign.

In a radio interview with KTRU's Matthew Wettergreen earlier today, Get Out! Dreator/Director Travis Johns and Executive Producer W. Ross Wells discussed the show's unusual nature and why the time is right for ground-breaking content. The pair said that with tomorrow's release of the iPad, the long-discussed "convergence" begins. "Now we have a device that is our book, our internet, our music, our television, our DVR, our social media client and it will change media forever," says Wells. "It is a totally new landscape that is just begging to be littered with the detritus of pop culture," adds Johns.

Zenfilm, the film company that created the program has other successful web-based entertainment properties but this is the first foray into comedy programing... outside of Zen's broadcast advertising work. Zenfilm's Jarrod Gullet produced the show over a grueling 8 week production cycle and after this brief respite will gear production up for another run. Get Out! will release new episodes the first Friday of every month with additional content, behind the scenes video, deleted scenes and featurettes released on every Friday in-between.

The production was heavily supported by the Houston film community and the Houston Film Commission. Please see the show credits for the long list of thank-yous.
