I considered signing for a few minutes, but then compared this to other cases in which I think Packer has been wrong in taking disciplinary action. From what I have heard (and granted, I'm not very informed about what's going on), the stuff he and his friends have been saying has crossed the fine line between free speech and speech with the intent to cause harm to someone (be it physical harm, or harm to their reputation or emotional state.) They say stuff that specifically targets certain people and certain people's problems. I know we all make offensive jokes and comments, I certainly do, but I think calling someone a cancerous whore, for example, crosses a line. There's no way that could be interpreted as all in good fun. Also, Rob's been spoken to (and suspended) about this other times--it's not as if this is the first strike against him.
Normally I think Packer is way too punishment-happy, but in this case I think he deserves whatever he gets. His little group never talks about me--but I almost feel personally threatened when hearing what he's said about other people.

I praise you as the only person who can eloquently state the right arguments against the petition. I still disagree enough to be ok with the fact that I signed it, but you made very good arguments.

Why thank you!

I was considering talking about court cases like Brandenburg v. Ohio, but didn't. You can tell that's the only Gov unit I actually paid any attention to.
