2007

I don't really like to reflect much on New Year's Day. Not anymore, at least. Sure I've noticed some ups and downs and figured some things out, but it'd be wasted time to reflect when I'm much more focused on the future. Besides the legitimate things going on, I have a plan to spend my 21st year drinking at least once each day. Not to excess, but at least a shot. If I'm successful, I get a cookie. I asked my dad if he thought this plan would make me develop alcoholism, but he doesn't think so--it's a go!

Drink of the Day (Jan 1): 1 Budweiser in the afternoon because we drank all the champagne before midnight.

Over New Year's Eve, Jon and I went to Terlingua in Big Bend to ride ATVs, put on a fireworks show for the whole town, hang out with Dr. Fun, raft down 21 miles of the Rio Grande, and camp out on the border in freezing cold weather. We also earned an interesting story involving a run-in with a cop at Gooch Cemetary. Ask me about that one.

I thought this first-line/first-journal-entry-of-the-month
Jan 2 - "It took us a while, but I'm glad we're like this again."
Words better than a kiss.
Uh-oh, I'm feeling emotion. Better smoke it out of me before this amorphic emotion defines itself.

Feb 5 - Last semester I made somethin' up and told Cedar "A symptom of being overworked is feeling that you have work to do when you don't." Now, I think I was right.

March 6 - So I'm Assistant Producer for this new work studio show Parable (March 31, April 1, 2 Santa Fe CSF Weckesser Theatre). Today, I single-handedly got the full funding needed for the show: 650 bucks! So, we have a show!

April 5 - Subject: Happy Up-Down Day!
Today has been productive. I sent a kickass resume to a near-certain employer and I secured the rights for a future production of a kickass play. YES!
Today is Up-Down Day! Give every moderate- to atractive-looking person you see the Up-Down! Say Damn (DAMN!), then Double Damn (Damn DAMN!).

May 2 - I promised Rocky Horror Double Birthday pictures. I only managed to steal a few from Amy.

June 8 - Good God!
Elle and I improved with You Me & Greg tonight, doing the "____ On Trial" format. It went pretty well and I had a hard time not laughing on stage.

July 2 (Bitch Fest!) - Even though I really like them as people and I think they're all really funny and talented improvisers...

August 5 (A Good One)- Austin's exploding. Or imploding. Whichever sounds fatter to you. I want to hurry and get back to Santa Fe.

September 2 - There are people in Austin that I miss terribly. There are others who I hope to never see again. So what's up? Are they still in the picture?

October 14 - I woke up in my clothes with my shoes on. Happy birthday Jon. I think I missed part of the party...I don't really remember much. My head hurts a little too much to think. Why did I wake up so early?

November 19 - Thanksgiving's soon and that's cool.
I dyed my hair a bit darker yesterday with two goals in mind: 1) That it looks like the color it is when it's wet and 2) that it matches the color of my eyebrows. I'd just like to declare a success on both front based on the following submitted quotes:
"It looks like your hair's wet!"
"I like it...it matches your eyebrows."
SUCCESS!!

December 1 (BURRITO!!) - Last night was cool too because I got to do some voice-over work for a cartoon. No biggie, but it was fun.
Today was a lot more fun though! Not only did I finally win a racquetball match against Ashley, but I found out I was nominated for the Who's Who Among Students Award. Apparently it is fairly prestigious if I win the award and it looks great on a resume (and I look great being in the publication). So that's neat.
Neater still was the comic hypnotist we had in the SUB tonight. NEATEST is that I got to be hypnotized. It wasn't what I expected, but it was awesome. I danced ballet and impersonated Michael Jackson and it was a great time.
would be interesting. Some months I didn't start until late in the month, but these are all pretty memorable parts of my year. Good idea, whoever!
