So Jackson Pollock and Lisa Frank walk into a bar...

...and I was born.

Two of my dear art school buddies have all growed up and are heading out to grad school in the following weeks. They both got together and threw a going away party. An art costume going away party (pfft, buncha art fart geeks). We had to dress up as either a favorite artist or piece of artwork. The host and hostess dressed up as Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick in good ol' Factory style. I'm socially awkward so I tend to avoid parties because, well awkwardness, but I had to see these two guys off. They are awesome and amazing artists and I expect much greatness from them. They may be the next gazillion dollar fine artists of the century and I may never see them again! And so operation art-fart costume party was a go!

While surfing the tumblrs I found out about this funtastic Hindu festival in Utah, of all places, called the Color Festival. After seeing that I got an idea. What if Jackson Pollock and Lisa Frank had some bizzaro unwanted love child collaborative art piece? I was a bit hesitant to go through with this idea because it sounded ridiculous in my head and no one would appreciate it. I told the darling husband dude about it and he was like, "Wha-? Durnit woman, keep your art mumbo jumbo to yerself!" Okay, no he didn't say that but he definitely had no clue what I was talking about. I decided to go along with it because it would be tons o' fun (I do so love splattering paint on myself. Reminds me of undergrad school) and it was the only idea I had. Bought some cheap pants and blouse at Goodwill, some cheaper sandals at Wal-Mart, and some tempera paint that was on sale at Hobby Lobby. After much splattering and giggles, I convinced the super darling husband dude to accompany me in case I felt sick and/or had no one to talk to because, you know, socially awkward.

I was so unsure of myself as we drove to the club where the party was being held. I mean, look at me! HELLO! ATTENTION! I definitely got a few odd stares as we walked from the car to the club. The bouncer dude just stared at my ID and back at me confused. When I entered the bar area and saw my old classmates dressed up I felt a little better. When they saw me with big open eyes in amusement and yelled out, "Jackson Pollock!" I felt much better. All in all, the night and costume were a success. I, um, had my picture taken with quite a few strangers. It was the weirdest feeling in the world. I'm on people's camera phones covered in brightly colored paint and not in a sexy way, haha! Afterward, darling husband dude and I went to Chico's Tacos. That was fun as well. XD

Fun times.
