Game of Thrones. 1x01. Winter is Coming

Wow. Just wow. When you wait too much for something there is always a risk to be disappointed but this first episode was as high as my expectations. I think the writers made a good work to present the main characters and the world while remaining accessible to people who didn't read the books. Of course when you already know the story you can spot what wasn't said yet, but the information will come later (on the Theon'status in the House of Stark, for example). You also pay more attention on the small significant details ( Dany entering without quivering in her boiling bath...). It's an exposition so the rythm isn't very fast but I didn't find it boring at all.

The cast is great. Some actors or actress aren't as I imagined the characters but all of them are good. My favorites were Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as his brother Jaime and Harry Lloyd as Viserys Targaryen. He's perfectly creepy but if you saw him in Doctor Who it isn't a surprise! The children are all perfect and it's reassuring because to direct children is always complicated, and they have difficult roles. They didn't sweeten the text but the sex and the violence are never pointless.

So this is really a promising beginning. I look forward to seeing of King's Landing, Littlefinger, Tournament of the Hand... The best is yet to come!
