I'm going to start running some D&D pretty soon here, so I'm working on creating some new monsters. And holy cow, is this a non-trivial practice. I figure I'll get better with time, but just trying to make a "ratling" is a chore. I'd love to be able to input a set of parameters and have it spit out a monster. I'm working on modifying the kobold entry with pertinent details from rat, but I'm still having trouble.
- "Where would I put Disease Resistance? Disease isn't an energy type, so I'm guessing it's a Special Quality"
- "The Kobold entry at d20srd.org says Kobold, 1st-Level Warrior, which I'm assuming means a single level of Warrior has been added to some platonic Kobold, but I don't know how to get back to that ur-Kobold."
What I really want is a myriad number of templates that I combine to make new monsters. Really boring templates applied to some kind of blank slate:
Ratling (Humanoid base)
- Small
- Animal (Rat)
- Combat Style (Cramped Conditions)
- Adaptation (City)
- Adaptation (Sewer)
Scary ratling pet (Animal base)
- Large
- Animal (Rat)
- Adaptation (Sewer)
- Disease Carrier
Fountain Ooze (Aberration base)
- Huge
- Immobile
- Touch Attack (Minor, Acid)
