Details on the characters within the story, as well as the correct timeline order in which the stories take place.

With several main characters and even more minor characters, all with pasts, links to one another, and dreams, you can be sure this story has its fair share of drama.

Main Characters: (all info for the main story, not the prequels)

-Kitagawa Takayuki

Birthday: September 1st

Age: 17

Hair: Dark Black

Eyes: Brown

Alias: Taka-Chan, Rich Boy, Taka-kun, King

Family Status: Parents and a younger sister, Aoi

Height: 183cm (6'0”)

Blood Type: AB

Strong Subjects: World History, Economics

Poor Subjects: English

Kitagawa Takayuki, otherwise known as Taka, hails from the third richest family in Japan. He is the oldest child and only son, meaning he is the sole hair to his family's large company. Quite narcissistic and rather arrogant, Taka is known as the King of Saint August Academy. The students of the school follow his lead blindly and lean to his every whim.

Despite his behavior, Taka has a softer side, and is easily trusting and influenced by others. He is curious of the lives of others; mostly those not like him and his St. August classmates. He finds the lives of Aki and her friends to be extremely interesting and not unlike 'a drama'; something that rather annoys them.

At school, Taka is in class 3-C, though his rank during exams is always rather high. According to those closest to him, he could do well in school, but he is rather easily bored.

-Seo Akina

Birthday: October 12th

Age: 17

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Brown

Alias:  Seo Eun-Young (her Korean name; note many people of Korean backgrounds have a Japanese name and a Korean one), Aki, Aki-chan

Family Status: An uncle and an older brother

Height: 160 cm (5'3”)

Blood Type: A

Strong Subjects: English, Math, Physics

Poor Subjects: unknown

Seo Akina, otherwise known as Aki, comes from a rather poor family. She, her older brother, and her uncle live above a used book store, which they also own. Her father and her uncle were from North Korea and came to Japan seeking a better life. Her father married a Japanese woman and opened the bookstore. However, things have gotten rather bad since their deaths. Still, Aki is determined to make something of her and to have a good life.

She attends Saint August Academy on scholarships and is in class 3-A. Studying is important, which is why she tries to ignore her fellow student's strange antics; especially when it comes to Taka and his whims. It is her upfront personality that first draws Taka to Aki, causing her much annoyance - at first.

Since junior high, Aki has been dating Ito Jiro. Jiro, who also happens to be her brother's best friend, isn't what you would call a perfect boyfriend. However, he is cool and caring. Aki just wishes he'd be a bit more jealous of Taka's affection for her.

-Seo Akira

Birthday: October 12th

Age: 20

Hair: Light Black

Eyes: Brown

Alias: Seo Joon-Young (his Korean name), Akira-chan, Seo-kun, Oppa (Korean for ‘older/big brother; used by females to address males older than them. The term is used to address family members, friends, strangers, even boyfriends/lovers. It is considered very rude to not address someone older by this term, especially if related. So, Aki would call him ‘Akira Oppa’ or ‘Joon-Young Oppa’, and not ‘Akira’.

Family Status: An uncle and a younger sister

Height: 178 cm (5'10”)

Blood Type: A

Akira is Aki's older brother. The fact that they were born exactly two years apart has led many to state that maybe the two were meant to be twins. Akira dismisses this, saying he could never be as serious as his younger sister.

At twenty, Akira is beginning to see the real harshness of the world. He's a high school dropout, who sometimes wishes he hadn't had to drop out. Akira knows it is up to him to make sure Aki gets into a university, which is why he works nonstop. When not helping out with the bookstore, he's working as a trunk driver, or he's playing the drums for a few local bands.

Akira is a sweet and handsome man, whose one flaw may be that he’s a bit slow on the up-take, especially when it comes to women and romance in general. That isn’t to say he can’t get a date, he can. He just can’t seem to notice the girls that actually like him.

-Ito Jiro

Birthday: March 8th

Age: 18

Hair: Dark Black

Eyes: Dark Grey

Alias: Ito-kun, Ji-Ji (it is a nickname given to him by others. He doesn’t like it.)

Family Status: A father, whom he doesn't live with.

Height: 183cm (6'0”)

Blood Type: B

Ito Jiro is a junior high school dropout (well, he went until the last day, as required by law) and close friend of the Seo family. He's also Aki's long time boyfriend. Jiro is the classic rebel archetype: a chain smoking, motorcycle riding, cool guy.

Many would define Jiro as 'unfeeling' or 'overly cold', but the truth is he can get overly emotional and he has a huge protective strike. Jiro's loyalty must be earned, but once a person has it, Jiro's loyal to them until the end. He often says that he's best friends with Akira until they die, and forever after that. As for his relationship with Aki, he does lover her, though, he's not comfortable showing it as often as she would like.

Jiro had to drop out of school due to his family, so he now makes his way by doing construction work. He lives in a tiny apartment three blocks away from Aki and Akira. Jeni and her parents are his next door neighbors.

-Goto Fujita (Fujita is actually a surname and not a first name. However, his parents were confused and now he’s legally stuck with two last names. This is why he simply goes by ‘Fuji’.)

Birthday: July 2nd

Age: 15

Hair: Blond

Eyes: Grey

Alias: Yoo Jae-Ryung (his Korean name/actual name), Fuji, Fuji-kun, Goto-san

Family Status: Parents, three older sisters, two nieces

Height: 172cm (5'7”)

Blood Type: B

Strong Subjects: Korean

Poor Subjects: Everything else

Goto Fujita, whose real name is Yoo Jae-Ryung, is the only son of his parents. His parents came to Japan (from North Korea) before he was born, hoping to have a better life. In order to do so, his parents had their children change their surnames from Yoo to Goto. Later, Fuji's first name was changed too.

Cool and cute, he’s a fun-loving guy, who is hardly ever serious. In fact, his favorite past time is to team up with his best friend to scheme. Fuji tends liking things to be his way, which leads to him planning rather elaborate strategies to make his dreams come true. He tends to be naive and rather outspoken for his age, mostly due to the fact that he likes attention.

Fuji also has at least five girlfriends at any given time, but he can never seem to remember any of their names. Or even what they look like, as shown when he met one on the street and didn’t know who she was, as she wasn’t wearing her school uniform.

Fuji attends a North Korean high school, though he often spends his days there trying to find ways to sneak out of the school. To help out his parents, he works part-time, delivering food for a Korean restaurant.  [Note of interest: People who attend North Korean schools rarely get into good Japanese universities. Also, NK make their students speak Korean and learn pro-North Korean history.]

-Katayama Jeni

Birthday: May 20th

Age: 15

Hair: Black

Eyes: Green

Alias: Han Ji-Soo(su) (Korean name/actual name; before Jeni was adopted, her legal name was Katayama Jeni. So, she continues to use it in daily life. Though, her parents and other family members called her Ji-soo.), Hong Ju  Shou (Chinese name); Noona (note: It is what males in Korea call females older than them. The same rules apply as with ‘Oppa’. As Fuji is a few weeks younger than Jeni, he’s taken to calling her the name, as a joke and to annoy her.)

Family Status: Adopted parents and an adopted older brother

Height: 164cm (5'4”)

Blood Type: O -

Strong Subjects: Music, English, Japanese History

Poor Subjects: Chemistry

Katayama Jeni, whose real name is Han Ji-Soo, is half-English, ¼ French, and 1/4 Korean. Her birth father was half-Korean and half-French. He met her birth mother while studying in England. Sadly, neither was prepared for a child, especially one like Jeni.  Her father left early and her mother ended up dying.

At thirteen she was adopted by her half-uncle and his wife, who is half-Chinese and half-Korean. Interestingly enough, no one in her home ever speaks the same language at the same time. (For example, her father may speak Korean and her mother may answer in Meridian, so Jeni may say something in Japanese.)

Jeni's best friend is Fuji, and the two consider themselves to be 'soul twins'; everyone else jokes that the two share one brain. Jeni often helps him in his schemes and loves egging him on, often pushing things further than they should go. Easily amused, Jeni looks to Fuji for a good time. Her only issue with Fuji is that that he insists on calling her 'Noona/Nuna', even though they are only a few weeks apart.

Jeni attends a public high school, though she wishes to attend school with Fuji. Jeni lives in the same building as Jiro. She also studies the piano.

-Eto   Hiroshi

Birthday: December 23rd

Age: 17

Hair: Light Black, with high lights

Eyes: Light Brown

Alias: Hiro, Eto-kun, Pretty Boy, Prince

Family Status: Parents and an older sister, Noriko

Height: 181 (5'11”)

Blood Type: O+

Strong Subjects: English, Physics, Maths

Poor Subjects: English (if his tutor asks)

Eto Hiroshi, Hiro for short, comes from a long line of doctors. His family owns a hospital and several clinics throughout Japan. As Taka's best friend, he's considered the Prince of Saint August Academy. He's also considered to be a playboy, as he always has a new girl on his arm. However, he appears to be rather sensitive and sensible when it comes to women and dating.

Being a 'lady-killer', Hiro is very flirtatious and loves hitting on anyone. He's also a teaser, often getting a kick out of teasing Taka and Jiro, claiming that he's going to take Aki from both of them. It's no surprise that he finds kindred spirits in Fuji and Jeni - when the three put their heads together chaos always ensues!

Despite an outgoing attitude, Hiro can be rather series, especially when it comes to two things: his future (he wants to be a model) and the one woman he actually loves: Seta Ayaka.

Hiro is in class 3-A and is an excellent student. However, he has an English tutor in Seta Ayaka, though it's just an excuse to spend time with her.

-Akazome Miki

Birthday: February 14th

Age: 15

Hair: Light black/dark brown

Eyes: Blue

Alias: Mik, Miki-chan, Akazome-san

Family Status: A mother, a father, a stepmother, four half-siblings

Height: 165cm (5'5”)

Blood Type: AB

Strong Subjects: English, World History, Art

Poor Subjects: Chemistry, Physical Education

Miki is half-English and half-Japanese. Her mother is a commoner in England, while her father owns several large companies in Japan. Her father decided that Miki would receive the best education in Japan, so he paid for her to come to Saint August Academy - against Miki's wishes.

Miki is innocent and naive, despite her age. She's often found reading and trying her best to stay out of the way of her fellow students, as she fears them - especially the boys. Still, she has a strong sense of justice and quickly bonds with Aki over the unfairness at Saint August. Not surprisingly, Miki feels more comfortable around Aki and her friends than she does around her schoolmates.

Miki is in class 1-A at Saint August. She's an excellent student and hopes to attend university in England, so she can be with her mother again.

Miki also has caught the eye of Fuji, who, upon first seeing the strange girl let out a:  “Fuck me, she’s beautiful.”

-Seta Ayaka

Birthday: November 4th

Age: 21

Hair: Blond

Eyes: Blue

Alias: Anna (her real name; she is changing her name to something more Japanese, as she is becoming a Japanese citizen.), Aya, Sensei (Japanese for ‘teacher’)

Family Status: Parents

Height: 173 (5'8”)

Blood Type: A

An American (her great-grandfather was Japanese) teaching at Saint August Academy. She teaches English and it is her first year teaching. Aya got her job through the vice-principal of the school, who was her Japanese tutor when she came to Japan as a teenager.

Aya is known for being slightly flighty, fun, kind, and attractive. However, she is amazingly tough on her students - she wants them to do well. She teaches English to the first year students, though other male students often show up to her classes.

In fact, many male students ask for her to tutor them in English. However, they often back out of the tutoring sessions after a strong word from Eto Hiro, who is currently Aya's only after school pupil.

For her part, Aya seems to be blissfully unaware of Hiro's feelings for her. In fact, Aya is involved with a business man, who has apparently yet to kiss her after six months. It's something that she doesn't understand and often brings up: 'How can he not kiss her? She does everything he asks.' This annoys Hiro, but he sticks it out, sure that one day Aya will notice him.

Like Fuji, Hiro had an unusual reaction upon seeing the girl of his dreams. He said: “Jesus Christ, that’s a pretty face.” Though, perhaps thankfully, Aya didn’t seem to hear him.

Minor Characters:

Eto Noriko - Hiro's older sister; a model who currently lives in New York. When they were children, Takayuki had a crush on her and professed his love.

Kitagawa Aoi - Takayuki's younger sister. She's in the sixth grade and attends an all girl's school.

Seo Jin - Aki and Akira’s uncle. He has a gambling problem and also tends to drink. Though, he’s a relatively nice man.

Han Jung-Soo(su)/Hong Zhao Nu/Katayama Kazuki - Jeni's older brother/ half-cousin. He's away at college, which he pays for through scholarships and his hard work. He pretends to be Japanese while at school and goes by the name Katayama Kazuki.

Han Go-Soo(su) -Jeni and Kazuki's father. He works as a mechanic. He's very proud to be Korean and his one regret is that he wasn't nicer to his younger half-brother, Jeni's birth-father.

Kim Soon-Ja - Jeni and Kazuki's mother. She works in a restaurant as a waitress.

Lan - Kazuki's Vietnamese girlfriend. She works at a café near his college.

Komatsu Yuu -Aya's boyfriend, who is a business man.

Naitou Shugo -The Vice-Principal of the school Takyuki, Hiro, Miki, and Aki attend. Aya calls him 'Sensei'.

Kawazu Mina - A girl that attends St. August. She is seventeen and in class 3-B. Mina hates Aki and tries to make her miserable. Her father holds a political office.

Ichikawa Megumi - Also called Megu. She works at the Seo's bookstore and her age is unknown; she claims to be thirty, but her knowledge and stories suggest she is older.

Hiraizumi Midori -A friend of Mina's. Sometimes she is forced to help Mina in her schemes to hurt Aki, but most of the time she tries to warn Aki or just stay out of it. Her parents own and run tea houses throughout Japan.

Kano Shou/Friz “Alexander” Shou - An ex-pianist, who was also a world famous composer. Now, people think he's dead. Is half-Italian and half-Japanese. He has taught Jeni and Fuji piano since they were children. He also plays cards with Seo Jin every week.

Nishioka Ikki - Midori's boyfriend and a rival of Takayuki. His father is a movie director and his mother is an actress. Cool, he is worshiped by several girls in the school, including Mina and Miki.

Wada Risa - A thirty-six year old doctor.

Yoo Mi-Ryung/Yabu Mi - Fujita's oldest sister. She's a hairdresser and divorced at twenty-seven. She has two children: Yabu Erisa and Yabu Misa, twin seven year old girls.

Yoo So-Ryung/Goto Erika - Fujita''s second oldest sister. She's twenty-three and works at a music store and lives with her boyfriend, Wan Moo-Young.

Yoo Sung-Ryung/Goto Sara - Fujita's third oldest sister. She's twenty and works at the same restaurant as Fuji and Kim Soon-Ja. She has a long standing crush on Akira.

Wan Moo-Young-  Twenty-five. Erika's boyfriend. He's in a band and also works at a theater.

Yabu Erisa and Yabu Misa - Fujita's nieces. They're seven and attend a public Japanese elementary school.

Go Jong Won -A member of a local Korean gang, who Fuji often borrows money from. Fuji often borrows money from Jong Won under Jeni’s name as well. To get away from him, the duo often hides in the Seo bookstore. They have even gone so far as to have Megu tell Jong Won that they have died or moved to America.

Takano Ayumu - The leader of   the local Japanese gang. He and Akira were pals in high school, so Akira, his family, and his friends more or less get free passes and protection from Takano’s gang. He frequently comes off as goofy or playful (he once had Fuji make his gang business cards), but that it simply to hide his true personality as a ruthless (and possibly slightly insane) leader who will do anything to stay at the top.

He Eri- A schoolmate’s of Jeni’s. They bond over their past illness and issues with their birth fathers. While Jeni’s father left just as she was becoming ill, Eri’s father was the cause of her illness. Eri’s father caused the accident that left her with several large burn scars and nearly completely deaf. Because she became deaf later in life, Eri still speaks and reads lips. This allows her to “pass for normal” in most cases.  Eri practices ‘dating for money’ , though she never “goes all the way” with her “friends”. She is half-Russian, 1/4th Chinese, and 1/4th Spanish.
