I know this is a long post, but I encourage everyone to read it. The bible used to quote the two passages in this entry is the New King James version of the Holy Bible.
Worship
-Isaiah 1:12-:15 "(12)When you come to appear before Me, who has required from your hand, to trample My courts? (13)Bring no more futile sacrifices; incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies-- I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting. (14) Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; they are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them. (15) When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood."
-Hebrew word for worship means "to kiss, like a dog licking its master's hand"
-Praise is giving thanks, but worship is adoration
-Anyone can hear praise, but worship is between the worshiper and the one being worshipped.
1: Worship must be first.
--First thing in the morning
--First in importance
2: Worship must be your best.
-- When Cain and Abel brought their sacrifices to God, Abel brought his best, but Cain just brought whatever, and God was displeased with Cain.
3: Worship must flow from the heart.
4: Worship must be acceptable.
-- Your heart must be right with God for Him to hear your worship.
5: True worship must cost you something.
--Surrender humility
--Humble yourself
-2nd Samuel 6:13-:23 "(13) And so it was, when those bearing the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatted sheep. (14) Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod[peasent or servent clothing].(15) So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. (16) Now as the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul's daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart. (17) So they brought the ark of the Lord, and set it in its place in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. (18) And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts. (19) Then he distributed among all the people, among the whole multitude of Israel, both the women and the men, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins. So everyone departed, everyone to his house. (20) Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, 'How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servents, as one of those base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!' (21) So David said to Michal, 'It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord. (22) And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservents of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.' (23) Therefore Michal had no children to the day of her death."
-David's story is one of Dignity vs. Intimacy. He could either be a dignified ruler, or he could shed his kingly manner and worship God with complete abandon, bringing him true intimacy with the Lord.
-Never choose Dignity over an Intimate Relationship with God, for He honors and blesses those who will humble themselves in His name.
