There was far too much at stake here. Temari had stayed up most of the night before, thinking of just how wrong everything could go, trying to think of a way to avoid the mess that was bound to spring up if negotiations fell through.

Which they were apt to do. Negotiations with the yakuza all had to do with how closely linked the gangs were, how loyal they were to each other, what deal another gang was offering. There was no such thing as sticking to the rules. They were criminals; rule breaking was part of the job.

The blonde haired sister of the Sunagumi leader watched those who were arriving with narrowed eyes, picking each one apart, analyzing them as critically as she could. She was good at thinking ahead, and thinking ahead required getting to know what your opponent was capable of.

And not assuming. Assuming was very, very bad.

(She was pretty guilty of assuming a lot of things.)

It was her job to think of ways to resolve and keep the peace.

“At least there’s a good turn out,” she remarked to no one in particular, though she was loud enough to be overheard by someone.

His hands were jammed in his pockets and his back was slightly slouched as he entered the den. He didn't at all like Harajuku. Far too flamboyant of a place, he'd thought.

He couldn't at all remember how- Okay, so perhaps that was a lie. All he knew that it had something to do with someone shouting, "Come on, Nara, it's a bandwagon! You're supposed to come!" There was also some particular emphasis on the vowels through elongation. And, god, it was annoying as hell and the only thing he could've done to stop all the verbal harassment everyone put him through was to actually come to the meeting.

But then, he didn't know what he'd be able to do to help if trouble arose. Oh, well. It wasn't as if he had a choice in the matter. (Really, he'd like to think that way.)

He spotted a rather cozy and safe seat that wasn't far from where the rest of the group was. He made his way there and sat.

There was a woman standing near him. Most likely from Sunagumi as he had yet to see groups other than the one whom he belonged to and Sunagumi inside the room. Not to mention she had the whole "odd hairstyle" thing going on, and odd things were a fad in Harajuku.

She reminded him of someone. She really did. The way her eyes looked at everyone and her whole stance. (This sure was the last place he'd expect to see someone like his mother. Then again-)

The woman, soon enough, said something.

And Shikamaru felt compelled to say something, too. It really wasn't his business, but there was just this urge. And controlling urges were more of a bother to deal with than being a busy-body.

"A good turn out," he said. "Wouldn't think as optimistic as that in meetings like these. Besides, you might just jinx it."
