Congrats! As I said after you got your last tat, your recent ink-related activities have got me wanting to finally get my lightning-bolt design inked. I only hope that I can find as good an artist here in the Triangle. The one just down the road from me in Carrboro has a pretty good reputation but as your experience suggests, that reputation may not be worth a damn. I'm hoping to check out the shop this month sometime. . . .if I ever finish my lit review for my thesis. . .

... or, y'know, you could plan to come visit us and make an appointment with Jarrod (poke poke)

Seriously, though: I seem to recall Inkslingers being pretty good -- I definitely remember that they were clean and friendly (like I said, it was ten years ago and I was a little freaked out, so details are somewhat hazy). Are they no longer open, or just too far away to be convenient?

Believe this or don't.... I've been considering a tat of my own. Blame on television, (I've been digging "Miami Ink" on Discovery Channel) but there are a very few designs I'm considering.

I'm not as surprised as most folks, I guess, about scary-lookin bearded tattooed bald guys being friendly and personable... maybe cause I am one... huh.... well, except for the tattooed part, but we'll see about that. In my experience across this country, you always find nice folks if you're looking. The process is helped greatly by being some of those folks yourselves.

And yes, I recall Inkslingers as being *very* hygenic and professional. I'd have carried you out of the place if they weren't. But I felt comfortable with them.

Alas, as far as I know Inkslingers is no more. As for the other. . . .we'll see if I can find someone reputable here but, hell, I've been wanting to make a non-wedding-related visit anyway.

We could make it into a ritual... anytime we go to visit, we go shooting, and *someone* gets a tattoo.
