No Place

Disclaimer: Characters, places, etc. Do not belong to me, they belong to JK Rowling and all affiliated companies.

A/N: This was written in 20 minutes. Saw the Harry Potter premiere the other night, came to this imagery in my head as Snape's character was dying and had to write and post somewhere. It's been an awesome journey, thanks to JK Rowling and her imagination and the actors who brought the characters to life. Enjoy or not, either way, this was an imagination release.

He awoke to find himself in the place where he had first met Lily, only it possessed a misty element to it. There was no colour, only a vast, white mistiness that held an ethereal glow in anything and everything.
'Severus,' came a voice behind him.
He whirled around and found himself confronted with the visage of Hogwarts' previous Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore.
'Albus, where are we? Where am I?' he asked in slight confusion. 'I had thought I had passed, Nagini...'
'You are, my dear boy. Though, I should think you may have wanted one last time to have seen this place before you pass.'
A dawning realization came upon his face, usually scrunched up with a scowl, and suddenly he understood.
'One last time, is it Albus?'
'Yes, Severus,' was the quiet reply.
   'Did you know, Albus?'
'Even, I, in all my time, had never been good with Divination, Severus. However, I had suspected.'
Severus was silent for but a moment of contemplation.
'Do you think she would have been proud?'
'For that, I cannot be certain. However, I am sure that she would have been grateful.'
With that, Albus turned and vanished into the white mistiness of the environment and Severus was left in quiet rumination.
Severus sat upon one of the tree trunks that emerged from the Earth, solemn and serious, as he reflected of what had brought him to where he is now and found peace in his decisions. For in this place, where everything began, is the only last fitting memory of where everything should end. Harry James Potter, The-Boy-Who-Lived, son of his beloved Lily Evans, for forever more shall she be Evans, will defeat that which he, Severus Snape, tried to protect Lily from.
And with that thought, he realized, the crux of the matter is that he will die and move on, for he does not - will never - belong to the new world that is being created. He never would.
No, this is his end and he shall accept it graciously.
