Merlin! Yay!
Spoilers for 4x01 below, read at your own risk.....
So, I have just watched the season opener with hubby and daughter. I will no doubt, as hubby pointed out when complaining about pausing so I could get more soda, 'watch it five hundred more times', but for the first go-round...
I like the new intro, save for the kissing scene. Shove the 'accepted' pairing down our throats, much?! (Mel!/ What?! /Your ship is showing!/ Crap.)
Gwaine didn't have nearly enough to say. Hell, I didn't realize he was actually there until a good 15 minutes into the episode! If bringing everyone together means he doesn't get as many lines then I want him to go run a tavern somewhere and just have them stop by while out on patrols.

Loved Morgana's outfit and the kohl eye thing she had going on. Not really loving the "still conflicted" thing, though. Ok, maybe it's what dooms her to ultimate failure or whatever, but really - just get over it. Be "The Big Bad" complete with the caps, or go hug your pseudo-daddy and make up. All this "I put up a brave front for you, but inside I'm trembling with the enormity of the path I have set myself on" is frankly annoying to me. Probably just me, I admit. But no less annoying.
I was personally impressed I remembered the names of all the Knights who I knew wouldn't die, even after a (for me) long hiatus away from most things fandom-related.
Oh, poor Lancelot. They may not want to go down the road of cheating but that look when she asked him to protect Arthur pretty much spoke VOLUMES. And then when Merlin talked to him about knowing what it was like to protect something - yeah. Lancelot is totally thinking "Why can't I have Gwen?! Why can't Arthur go marry some other woman for show while he sleeps with you?!"
Note to the Julians' - if you want us to be surprised someone is evil, then don't dress them in black. Srsly. Thank you.
And exactly how is Merlin going to become not-dead and poor Arthur go on believing he's just a hapless servant for the... I stopped counting around S2. Tune in Saturday for the download links to find out!!!
