"Our talents are wasted here." "That's it! Off to the IT department we go!"

Friday was a good day.  Except for all that classroom observer reliabilty retraining bullshit.

Hung out with folks from the office in the evening and it was a total blast.  Emily, Boss Genevieve, Gise, Wale and I went to a free concert at BAM featuring the Hungry March Band.  After a delightful ride on the Q across the East River, we hung out in the lobby and ran into a girl who was a field researcher back during Second Wave (which was like a million years ago when I was still in undergrad), and it paid off to get there early as we were able to commandeer a couch.  And the bartender was mad generous with the rum in my cuba libre which made me a happy camper.  A sideshow circus troupe opened for HMB which was also highly entertaining: sword swallowing, a girl snorting a condom up her nose and then blowing it out her mouth filled with air, juggling, standing on broken glass, the whole bit.  And then HMB came out and I got all kinds of happy flashbacks to my own beloved brass band.  These folks were great and the tuba was rocking and holding several kinds of shit down at the same time.

After much dancing and clapping and screaming, we left around 12:30 and, after a brief walkabout and detour around Flatbush (in search of food), headed home.  I got in around 2:30, went to bed and slept like the dead for the first time in a long while.  Apparently all I need to cure my angstsleep is a 20-piece brass band and a late-night trip to Brooklyn.

Or, wait...maybe that would be fun that I was needing.

music, friends
