I'm 23 now but will I live to see 24? The way things is goin I don't know.

So I just made some pretty OCD calendars with a breakdown of when all my assignments are due this semester, as well as a nice checklist for said assignments.  If I live through this semester and stay out of Bellevue, I'll be surprised.  Just going on record with that now.

Most of my classes seem OK; let's take a brief look and then I need to get back to reading and clean my room (and the living room because the RCN guy is supposed to come tomorrow to fix my phone line).

M 1400-1540: E63.2094 - Developmental and Prevention Sciences: Middle Childhood
This course is taught by the P.I. on the research lab I work for.  He didn't recognize me in class today, which will allow for hilarity next week when we go around introducing ourselves and talking about our interests in the course and I get to say, "Well, I work for you so I'm interested in the research aspects of the class."  Group presentation (that I hope to get out of the way early), a term paper and weekly paper assignments means less work than some of my classes.  Oy.  But I know a lot of folks in it so at least I probably won't be bored.  And hey, I "get" to leave the Field early on Mondays when we start up data collection again!  [B+]

W 1655-1835: E63.2022 - Health Psychology: Health and Human Development
We return to my research methods prof (the one we thought was on quaaludes), sans dog.  For now.  We also return to the East Building (despite the fact that the University seems to think we're having class in the Silver Center), which means I get to stress about running into my advisor more.  Prof seems less flaky than she did last year, and this is more her actual area of expertise, so we shall see.  Subject matter is interesting anyway, and I had to buy a $225 textbook so you know this is a serious class.  Pff.  [B+]

R 1655-1835: E63.2119 - Advanced Psychology of Parenthood
I think it's awesome that there's only one parent in the class, excluding the professor.  Also, the prof is completely techno unsavvy.  Scary.  You have to get to the classroom through this sketchy door in the foyer of Starbucks, descend a staircase and then wander around in this little holding room area...like Hell's waiting room but they have a vending machine.  A lot of work, plus a mandatory 4-6 hours of "field work" at our choice of several sites.  I don't have time for this shit.  We also have to do interviews with two parents that we "don't know" and report those in presentation and paper format.  Throw in a presentation--or, God forbid, facilitate an actual workshop out in the world (I'll take the in-class presentation thankyouverymuch)--and a term paper and ninja cries a little bit. R 1845-2025: E63.2214 - Learning Theories
Thursday nights is when Kathleen slits her wrists.  Her coworkers can expect crankiness on Friday mornings considering she won't get home until after 2100 (hopefully in time to catch the Scrubs teaser).  Class is with a professor I had my first semester and liked (and who, more importantly, liked me), but this one is a lot more reading and has weekly submissions that might be a little ridiculous- three probing questions/comments per article read, and we can have upwards of 5 articles a week.  Whine whine whine.  Also a group presentation and another term paper.  [B-]

Additionally, I'm volunteering 8-10 hours a week in the lab until we start up data collection again (tentatively March, but I have a feeling I'll get roped in earlier like last semester).  It's at least fun in the lab mostly now since certain people aren't going to be around for a while...heh.  Plus I can waltz out when I please since they're not the boss of me!  For another month and a half anyway!

In other news, totally psyched for St. Paddy's Day NYC '07.  What what.
