Zorikto Dorzhiev, a young Buryat artist, derives his spiritual inspiration from his ancestors' nomadic culture. Siberian nomads took the great world of the steppes to be their home. For them, each element of nature was correlated to another and embodied the entire creation. Things are not separated from their image. The material and the spiritual merge. Every manmade thing is a part of nature: clothing, implements, weapons, horse harnesses.
The beauty of things arises from their usefulness, but is not limited by it. Beauty is practical and, therefore, perfect.
People's faces in Zorikto’s paintings are often hidden from the viewer.
He explains:
" For me, the nomad is a contemplator. Not a tourist looking for a new thrill or a seeker of a better life. Rather, he is an artist, a philosopher. As a rule, he's alone. In solitude, it's easier to reflect. Whom to share one's thoughts and discoveries with? Sooner or later on the steppe he runs across other nomads. "So, [let’s drink] to the crossing of our paths!"
For me, it would be interesting to know what the face of the heroes looks like. They didn't want to appear completely on the canvas.
Maybe they are shy.
Or maybe they are not allowed to do so. And you can't do anything about it, and I can't force them.
Even so, sometimes it’s possible to "catch" somebody's profile.
Purely bright colours are emotional. Tone is too logical. I want to speak if not in a whisper then not in loud voice. It's more audible".

Nomadic civilization and culture come from constant moving.
Life is a journey, from birth to death, blessed with the ability to understand the ever -changing language of the universe, to connect with the earthly, the heavenly and the hidden realms, according to the laws of wonder and transformation, rebirth and reincarnation.
Zorikto's artwork is a fairy tale about harmony, refinement and uniqueness.
