Brians POV-
Arin was curled up next to me, his legs tangled with mine and his head resting on my bare chest. He was understandably upset after his dog, Barney, had to be put down this morning due to a brain tumour. For the past four hours we had been snuggled up on my bed, only getting up to use the bathroom or to get some more food and water. He hadn't wanted to go back to his house because he still had all of Barney's toys and bedding all over the house. Once we got back to my place I asked Matt to go over to Arin's to clear out all of Barneys things so that Arin wouldn't have to do it himself.
His sobbing had died down but every so often he would let out a soft whimper; it broke my heart to see him like this.
"It's not fair Brian, he was only five years old, he was too young to die." Arin said, raising his voice slightly at the end of his sentence. He began sobbing again and I set out a sigh, he was tugging on my shirt, trying to pull me as close to him as he possibly could. With a frown I lifted my arm up and wrapped it around his slender waist, pulling him as close to me as I possibly could.
"He was sick buddy, it wouldn't have been fair of us to have let him keep living like that, he was in a lot of pain. You did what was best for him." I spoke quietly, hoping my words would comfort him somehow, although I doubted that they would.
"But it hurts so much Bri." I heard him choke out. I sat up slowly and grabbed onto his hips before lifting him up and onto my lap. Both of his legs were wrapped tightly around my waist and he had buried his head into my neck. I closed my eyes and let him cry into my shoulder, gently rubbing his sides, trying to soothe him.
"I'm sorry I ruined your day, Bri." He said, his voice cracking slightly because all the crying he had been doing.
"You didn't ruin my day Arin, I’m just glad that you're okay. I love spending time with you, even if all we do is lay in bed all day." I could feel him smiling against my neck and that caused my lips to curve up into a smile of my own. One of my hands moved from his waist to the back of his neck where I began to fiddle with the tuft of hair that had grown there. He let out a content sigh and leaned into my touch.
"I love you Bri." Arin whispered, barely loud enough for me to hear. I took in a sharp breath and pulled my hand away from his neck. Once he realised that I had stopped playing with his hair he removed his head from my neck and looked up at me with wide, fearful eyes. I opened my mouth as if to say something but then immediately closed it, struggling to find the right words to say. What does he mean he loves me? I love him too of course, he is one of my closest friends, almost like a brother to me, but I had never felt the need to express my feelings to him, or any of the other guys for that matter. I opened my mouth to say something and once again, no words came out.
When Arin realised that I wasn't going to reply he pulled away from me and stood up off of the bed, a distraught look on his precious little face.
"Bri?" He asked desperately. Instead of answering I gulped and looked down at the black and white checked bed sheet beneath me. I looked up for a split second and saw Arin's face was flushed red and his teeth were tugging on his bottom lip. His hands were awkwardly playing with the end of my t-shirt that I had let him borrow, and his eyes were filling up with tears again. Once I saw how upset he looked I was hit with a feeling of guilt. I reached my arm out, trying to grab him so that I could pull him back into my chest, but he flinched away from my touch. I frowned to myself and ran my hand through my knotted hair.
"Arin." I sighed softly and saw the tears that had been brimming in his eyes starting to fall. His whole body was beginning to shake and I moved forward on the bed. I reached out again and this time he didn't move away from me. The moment that I had my arms wrapped around him and he was cuddled up in my lap he burst into a fit of sobs.
"I'm so sorry Bri, I didn't mean to say that, I'm so sorry." He shouted, wrapping both of his arms around my neck and resting his forehead on my cheek.
"You haven’t done anything wrong." I whispered into his ear and did the only thing that I felt was right at that moment, I leanet down and cupped his cheeks with both of my hands before pressing a gently kiss onto his lips. After a few seconds he realised what was happening and returned the kiss, his whole body melting into mine. I slowly pulled my lips away and rested my forehead against his, letting out a shaky breath. His eyes were closed and he had a small smile on his face. I grinned at him and pushed my face further forward, rubbing my nose against his in a loving manor.
"I love you too, Arin, so much."
He let out a giggle and placed a soft peck on my lips.
His hair was a mess from where we had been lying in bed all day and his shirt was tucked into his boxers at the front. His eyes were puffy and his nose bright red from when he had been crying. I had never seen anyone as adorable as he is in my whole thirty-one years of being alive.
He’s perfect, and he’s all mine.
