Well, the outcome of my last posting was fairly bizarre.

Me and Alejandro finally had our 'chat.' We went to Starbucks. In true Sex and The City style it took him over 30 minutes to finally spit out what he was going to say. He really likes me, but if we are going to have a relationship there is one thing he needs me to change. I was like What?! Another 5 minutes of him hesitating...and then he very sweetly (coz he's always sweet!) tells me that it's the way i smell.

Now in my defense, once he elaborated- this wasn't nearly as horrifying as it may initally have sounded to me. He means typically when i've been running or dancing in a club I sweat buckets and as a result afterwards stink badly. And he's completely right- which is why when i get in, I shower straight away! Unfortunately though, he can't stand the smell whilst were dancing. He put it down to the fact that (remembering he's Columbian) I don't shave my arm pits or trim my pubes! So...he was asking me if i would do it for him. I said yes, I think if it upsets you that much and is the only problem- then i will reluctantly do it. He said why reluctantly? And I said because i think it's a very girly thing to do...then we got into a heated debate as he told me that i had a very old fashioned attitude if i think some things are for girls and others are for boys.

Then we moved on to my topics- which was after 2 weeks of seeing each other, are we going to progress to a relationship or what was the next step...he seemed puzzled stating that he was going back to Columbia in 4 months. And then it dawned on me, that there was no way it could ever work. I've had the experience of having to leave a boy in a country behind before, and it nearly killed me (emotionally speaking only of course!) and there's no way i'm going through that experience again.

With that in mind, the very lovely Alejandro and the smelly Zack decided to just be friends. That was about a week ago, and it's working out well.

The job is also working out well too, still. I've had mini-promotions. My current one is that i recruit stripping contestants. It's actually a lot more fun then it sounds. It just involves standing out in the streets of Soho and asking every attractive man gay or straight, if he'd like to strip off for £1000 prize money. It's actually surprisingly easy to get people to do it and for the moment, is a bit of an amusement for me- i'm sure it will grow old quickly.

I've been watching a lot of films recently- and wanted to share some views....

Shawshank Redemption- *Finally* got round to watching this, after all the hype that people give it constantly. I hate to say it but i was really disappointed. I thought it was filmed beautifully, and I really enjoyed Morgan Freeman's performance but i just think it's really dated. I would have loved to have seen it in it's time, but now with The Wire and other gritty dramas, the prison just doesn't seem all that bad a place, mixed with an implausible plot, a lazy voiceover device and several twee scenes with a cringeworthy ending...and i kinda was left feeling underwhelmed. Glad to have finally seen it though!

The Straight Story- Absolutely beautiful David Lynch film. Didn't blow me away in terms of acting or story, but just a simple tale well told. The ending broke my heart. I guess sometimes a situation can build up for such a long time, but you still just dont have a well prepared speech. I thought that moment was very real.

Brazil- I loved this film. It's probably been my favourite recently. Absolutely balmy and completely irreverent. I thought the writing was so sharp, really enjoyed the performances and I think the repeat-viewing possibilities are endless. A real gem.

Throne of Blood- A Japanese version of Macbeth from the 1960's. I really enjoyed it actually. I thought the location transfer worked well and although I think it is too far removed from Shakespeare's text/story to actually be called an adaption, as opposed to based on, I thought it was an excellent film in its own right. The final battle was also filmed well with a good iconic image.

Breathless- French film. Odd story- oddly captivating with some cool cinematic manouvers. Definitely worth a look out.

Harold and Maude- Again with Brazil, another off-beat film that I absolutely loved. I'm sure that it must have provided endless inspiration for Six Feet Under! Incredibly macarbre film, that doesn't fall into bad taste with some genuine comic moments.

There's been some other films too, i've had a lot of spare time (!), but i'll leave the mini-reviews for another day.

Hope all is well.
