On the eve before Xmas Eve (!), we did a show at the Terratorial Army base (no idea how to spell TA!). It was enjoyable and smoothed along quite nicely. At the end, one of the leaders said to me; I thought it was fantastic. It occurred to me that while we are teaching kids to fight, you are teaching kids to laugh. Who's got the better job?
I didn't know what to say, and shyly whispered merry Christmas as it appeared the woman was having an existential breakdown! It really stuck with me though.
Christmas was lovely. Pretty unreportable to be honest, but still lovely. Saw family. Ate lots. Slept lots. And now back at work. Doctor Who on Xmas Day being one of the highlights.
Since returning to work, it's been a little bit of a nightmare. Kay has reached unreasonable levels of annoyance and rudeness and the troupe are very much at their wit's end with her. I am only just holding on but we are having full on shouting matches at her now. I guess it's all part of the experience of learning to work in a team in a professional environment, and learning how to deal with difficult members of the team-- but it's starting to wear thin. Having said that, only 22 working days left with her....44 working shows. ugh.
In other news, I think i've found someone to sublet my room for a small fee. So, it's a little bit of extra money for me each week whilst i'm in Italy and i'm helping out a friend. All works out nicely :)
I went to the Black Cap dancing last night. Was lots of fun. Met a guy in there called Royce. He was instantly charming, and very quick talking..turned out to be a complete wanker though. He's an actor, playing the villian in panto at the moment in a theatre in the East End. He proceeded to tell me for 30 minutes what acting is like as a job, and how panto is fun before asking me what job i did! When I told him, he was embarassed but carried on anyway.
Anyway, in the end, it turns out he was only looking for one thing and when i told him i wasn't interested...he sauntered off and wished me luck with the 'amateur dramatics!' I must sound annoyed when it's written down- but i wasn't at all. I love funny odd characters like that!
I think that's it for now..
