Ruffian on the Stair was great. Really sorry to see it close. Really enjoyed the experience and definitely a positive thing all round.

http://www.theatre-wales.co.uk/reviews/reviews_details.asp?reviewID=1298 I've been busy these past couple of days revising. Strangely enough, i'm kinda enjoying revision for this exam. So far, I've studied Richard III and Twelfth Night in intricate detail (minus the production histories- the whole point of the exam) and it's actually really fun really getting to know some Shakespeare really well. I really appreciate being able to pick up super academic books in the library and really follow their arguments as i know the texts well enough. I read "The Year Of The King" today which is Anthony Sher's working notebook on approaching Richard III- absolutely bloody fantastic read. I couldn't help but feel like i was procrastinating, as it will be little use in the exam but it was still roughly on the same subject.
I didn't get the movie part. I'm really pleased with myself though, as i think i've finally worked out rejection. I absolutely desperately wanted the part, and I have nothing immediately on the horizon to console me, but tonight I cleaned my room and read a book and it's just a vague feeling of disappointment as opposed to pure sickness!
If you were interested, the link is here (to the movie I *won't* be in) www.residue-movie.com It does suck a little as they've really got their act together. The director sent me a lovely e-mail though which part of it goes like this;
Thanks again for coming down to the audition the other week, we fully enjoyed working with you and found you an easy going actor and genuinely nice guy. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer you a role in Residue, we have found it hard to find a role that suits you, i thank you for the distance you travelled and your enthusiasm for the project, we are an honest production and I felt we owed an honest explanation to you on why you didn't get the part.
And then to add to the bizarreness....another auditionee e-mailed me when he saw the cast list to say;
neither did i, i was gonna email u but i started geting a little tipsy. Man, too be honest, they've made a mistake where ur concerned bec ur a fucking brilliant actor. I didn't tell u this at the time, but I was really in awe of ur acting talents, mind u, they were really nice ppl it has too be said. But I really did think you were home and dry.
Maybe it was these 2 nice e-mails that lessened the blow- either way....
This is becoming familiar ground now, but i'm back to square 1. Uni is about to finish, I still desperately miss USA, i have no where to go and nothing to do.....
Immediate plan is to move to Manchester in 2 weeks, get a flat for the summer and work shitty jobs to earn enough money for rent to live in London. Move there in September and audition, audition, audition.....
I've started making steps in marketing myself. I can be viewed at www.zackpolanski.biz Tell your friends! Any advice on website, work, especially moving to USA most appreciated!
Yours sincerely,
