Just got back from York. Phew, what a 48 hours!
Well, the audition experience itself was excellent, whether anything comes of it or not. They kept me a long time, workshopped with me, and called me back- so i definitely feel like I had given them a fair amount for them to cast/not cast me! It's a completely non profit film, so casting would mean no money whatsoever, but they did say they would put me up and feed me. They came off as really professional, and a nice group of people. Filming would be for 4 weeks in the summer (With pickups later in the year) from 9am-9pm, or 8pm-3am 6 days a week- so it would deffo be intense. They got an article about them in Fangoria magazine the other day (from what i can gather, it's a pretty popular American horror mag) and the British press seem to be pretty interested in the project. Fingers crossed. The only thing really working against me is when I walked into the audition and read the character sides, no parts grabbed me as a type of part i've played/or is in my obvious range. This is fantastic if i get the part as it will push me, but is not fantastic to getting the part. In fact the main one I was interested in is Wallace, he's 26, a construction worker who is laidback and the joker of the pack. Tim told me once that he thought my acting was weakest when i'm playing laidback and unconcerned. I did have to admit, that that did kinda haunt me today...but if i do get the role, i'm going to be the biggest laid back mofo in history. Their website looks great. I won't post it on here, or get too excited though until I hear back from them (Which they said they will do either way.)
Other then that, York is an absolutely beautiful city. I've never been there before and couldn't get over how nice it was. Admittedly, the picturesque scenery on the train and the blazing sunshine (hotter then the South of France!) probably helped along the way :)
The hostel was a weird experience. I always thought i'd be one quite happy to jump into a room with anyone, but I was sharing with 3 lads who i never met as by the time I got there, they were already in bed asleep and throughout the night I think I slept very little. I think it was a mixture of audition nerves, restless from travel and unfamiliar surroundings. I also got myself into trouble with a man by the riverbank, but that's a whole different story which i'll tell in a couple of days time when I can be bothered typing it up!
Train journey was also crazy. Truck hit bridge. Bridge collapsed well before we crossed. We stopped for 1.5 hours whilst inspector and mechanics fixed it- free drinks for all but quite an irate group of passangers, and train carried on. Next train, big fight. Transport police come on train to remove the gang of lads...we miss our timetable, and have to wait 30 minutes for another connection. And finally, the weirdest of the bunch, on a Virgin train from Sheffield to York (the final part of the 6 hour journey!) woman thinks she's going to go into labour. much panicking and drinks of water- they get her off and take her to hospital- i'm sure she's fine.
My Dad's designing me a website- which is so sweet of him but the problem is, if it's not *exactly* what I want, i'm having trouble telling him. Which will be a problem, because if i am going to have an acting website, i need it to be shithot....and not middle of the line. We'll keep working on it!
Workshop went very well. We got a first.
Need to finish reflection on practice notebook- do it in morning.
Waiting for Doctor Who to download!
