anal sacs
so one of my cats has been having, um, behavioral issues for a little while now.... he's cultivated the habit of humping my legs when i'm lying in bed. usually he starts up when i'm about to go to sleep, and i push him off me so he stops, and then he eventually settles and doesn't do it anymore. but sometimes he wakes me up in the morning that way... anyway, last night, he was at it again, and when i pushed him off me, my hand came into contact with one of the most vile-smelling substances i have ever encountered. some of it got on the blanket... this thick reddish brown stuff. it wasn't poop... and it just smelled awful. so i did some research, found this page (check out the interactive sections!) and have scheduled an appointment to take him to the vet's tomorrow morning. poor little guy... :-(
i've been thinking that it's time to change their diets and stop feeding them processed food that comes from a can... this may be a good impetus to do so.
