ho-hum

really spacy today, in contrast with my horoscope:
This is a very stimulating influence that will make you feel more alive and awake mentally than at any other time. Although your thinking may be somewhat lacking in care and discipline, you will make up for this in the scope of your intuition. This is an excellent day to tackle some problem that you have been unable to solve with tried and true solutions. New ideas will come more rapidly than usual. Solutions that have eluded you will be obvious, and your vision will have considerable breadth and scope. Any new phenomenon will interest you, and the idea of traveling to foreign places will be especially appealing. If at all possible, break with your usual routine and go off somewhere, at least for the day. If you do, you will be glad for the freshness that such a break introduces into your life.

jordaaner was recently musing over the amount of random encounters that accompany life in a smallish city. over the past few days, i've had a few coincidences that border on the frightening:

1. i bumped into this guy, paul, an R&B singer who's friends with andi, 3 times in one night. (last week i bumped into richard 3 times in one day, but that made much more sense, as we live around the corner from each other)

2. the same night, somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd time of seeing paul, i thought about how i hadn't seen lena in a while and should give her a call. then i looked up and out the window, and there she was! so i chatted with her for a bit. turned out that i was right across the street from her new pad.

3. today, was randomly thinking about jess, and how she speaks such good dutch without ever having taken a class, because she has a dutch boyfriend. that thought had no sooner crossed my mind when i looked up and she was riding by on her bike! so she stopped and we chatted for a bit.

craziness.

saw the SWP boyz at the duvel yesterday. their apartment is ridden with rat-mice, so they want to make a day where i come over with the cats and we drink beers and jam all day. i told them i'd have to discuss it with the cats and get back to them. i dunno, if the mice are in the walls, will the cats be able to actually do anything? i don't want to go through the trauma of bringing them across town if there's no real payoff for them. would a day really even be so effective? the guys said that they have generations of mice in their flat. *shudder*
