Things are good.

I'm about to put A. on a plane to a country where contracting the Plague and/or Malaria is still a very real possibility. Not so sure how I feel about the safety issues, but I think it's incredible that we have the kind of relationship that facilitates one of us being able to travel independently for 6 months (which coincidentally is the exact length that our current relations will have been going on).
I'll be traveling to said country around April to meet up with A. THIS I am very excited about... not only because I get to do lots of REI and Second Ascent shopping but because I get to ride a plane for 30 hours BOTH WAYS!!!
A. shopped at REI for trip supplies Saturday evening. My mom and I went to pick A. and the supplies up at REI and I have to say I was quite shocked to hear the price tag *cough*$500*cough* and see that there were only two measly little shopping bags waiting behind the counter. I'm holding out hope that theres a secret X-mas present on layaway for me somewhere in the depths of REI's Flagship store.

I'm reading... I know it's a miracle, but I'm finally withing 100 pages of finishing James Baldwin's Another Country. I like it, even though it's not a book I would've grabbed off the shelf left to my own devices. It's taken me a long time to get through it and I think A. takes that as a sign that I'm not interested or appreciative of it, but the truth is: of the last 5 books I've started to read, this will be the first I've finished in almost a year. I just can't find any time to read outside of the 15 minute bus rides I take 2x daily. What I'm trying to say is, I like the book, it's awesome and folks who haven't read it should.

In other news:
Eggnog lattes are the most evil beverage creation ever!
Soynog is good, exceeding my very low expectation of it!
Fig is the best dog ever and now that I work at a pet store she's spoiled rotten!

and as if this should come as any suprise...
