taking our chances on a teenager's romances

all waves come to an end eventually.
every surfer knows.
no matter how smooth the ride, the wave will crash on the sand
and absorb back into the sea
and its absence won't matter.
it's just another wave along the coast
where there are many waves.

every mountain will crumble to rock, gravel, sand, dust.
the geologists know.
even the tallest will someday decay
and even out into plains,
eroding away into nothing.
another product of entropy;
everything someday must end.

all children born must die.
this all people know.
youth will grow to age
and age to graves
and graves to.
graves to.
graves to.

but we, who plan to last when all things end,
how can we push through to the other side of always?
