San Antonio adventures

So.

Had a good weekend, went down to San Antonio to see family, my sister was in town (from LA) with her daughter. I'm not that big on kids, usually, but I have to admit that my niece, Tessa, is about the cutest thing on the planet. :)

the drive was pretty good, I stopped in Austin to see an old friend. Some of you probably know her, Jewel. We met for dinner, her and her kids, they're pretty okay kids, it was fun but a little brief. I barely recognized her, she chopped her hair! :( those that know her will remember the glorious mane of curly red hair, well it's currently shoulder length, STRAIGHTENED, and a deeper red. she still looks great, just different.

anyway drove on to SA after that and hung out a little and went to bed. I also patched WoW on mom's mac (ewwww) to current, though never logged on and played all weekend.

On friday, after I met my niece again, last saw her on christmas when she was almost a year old. She's grown a LOT. she's walking and talking, it's all good. Oh yeah, so after meetign again (and she was being shy) we went to the McNay to see the Edward Gorey exhibit. If you are in SA or planning to be in by sept 15th, GO. Awesome exhibit, they had original prints/sketches/drawings. Even some envelops to him mother that he'd drawn on. Was pretty cool. I spend too much in the gift shop, bought a shirt, and then ended up buying a steampunk ring (gears), they had SP jewelry! odd. also bought a figure they were calling 'the grumpy tree' I had assumed it was from Nightmare before Christmas because it was by some(expensive) figurines from said thingy. then I though it was a Gorey thingy, but couldn't find any reference to either. It's pretty cool either way, looks like cousin It w/o the hat and angry clawed branches sticking out all over the top. :)

Rest of the day was spent chillin.

On Saturday was chilled during the day and then met my dad for 'Dinner Theater' at Ft. Sam Houston (he's retired army). We expected it to be lame and it did not dissappoint. lol. Best two things I can say are: 1) Awesome drink prices: crown and coke was $3.75 2) the potatoes were good. the show itself was called "forever plaid" at the risk of offending people I will say this was the gayest thing I've seen in a long time. Not even gonna talk about it except to say it stank. One guy in the thing (it was a musical) had a really good voice, he was like an Alto maybe. I wonder if he'd be good if you put him in a prog metal band? lol

we got out of there quick and I went out w/ my cousin to a nice charitable establishment where I gave various young ladies dollar bills to help them through college. All for a good cause. :)

sunday I procrastinated until 5 and drove back here. I got a very precious goodbye hug from Tessa, she had finally warmed up to me, got in my hot car and hit the road. Traffic sucked. :( Ended up going to club on the way home, it was okay not great but not a waste. got home late to a whiny kitteh and went to bed.

Can I go home yet?
