SingFest was a blast yesterday. I had lots of fun esp as the company was jc. The starting was no fun tho, having to q for at least 45 mins before we were admitted into the festival venue. Then it was another 1 hour plus before the doors to the main stage were opened. It was crazy to stand in the blazing sun, luckily I had my hat. But I was still so hot that the perspiration was like flooding my face. Poor jc had to endure w standing next to me. It was a good way of warding off people though, nobody would want to stand close to me. WAha.
We got the seats we wanted, right smack in the middle and a safe distance from the crazy youngsters. I realize now that we were among the mature audience, people in their late 20s. Left right front back were people of our age. Suits us fine man. We just wanted to soak in the atmosphere (and sun) and enjoy the music. The performers were great but I think they got better as the day got darker. Jason Mraz kickstarted the concert for me, he was so cute and funny. And his songs were cool. I think I’m gonna buy his album. And Uncle Astley was a hoot! Can’t believe that he wore a full black suit buttoned all the way up with a skinny tie. His outfit was cool, but way too hot for the weather. I think he might have passed out if he continued singing. He was so old school, kept going ‘o baby…’ But he has the charm and gentlemen’s demeanor of his era. He was the only one who thanked the crew. And his band! They looked sooooooooo ancient. One of them looked like a grandfather and he would pass out if anyone threw him her panties.
PCD was hot and made me dance like I’m high in a club. I might have been a little, drinking two beers on an empty stomach. The food booths were no good, I q-ed for half hour and couldn’t get a hot-dog bun. :(
The highlight was the night was definitely Alicia Keys. She was such a powerhouse, I can see why people luv her. Her voice! I don’t dig the voiceover that she so luves, all the intros in her sultry voice. But she’s sooo good, so talented. And her backups too, they were all powehouses on their own. It is worth staying till the end for her. Her performance was the first thing on my mind when I woke up this morning. It was magical.
Yesterday seems unreal. Did we really just bum out there the whole day in the sun, sometimes standing, sometimes lying, sometimes dancing, sometimes sitting and survive on 200 ml of water and 2 beers? It was so late when I got home that I slept at 3am. And the past day’s events were like a distant dream.
I look forward to more outdoor events and festivals here at night. The Night Festival two weeks ago was fab too, plus it was free! Really luv the Willy Wonka’s choc factory original they screened. Pity that the rain came down and cut short our outing. That was a very good night that we walked and walked around the area without perspiring. Such a cool summer night was very rare.
