So!
Today I went tubing!
"I will go alone, today!" I said.
I met up with a group who were also going tubing.
"I won't go to any pubs!" I said.
I decided to follow this group to a pub along the river.
"I won't get wet, I'll just float in the tube!" I said.
To get from the river to the riverside pubs, the staff will throw out a bottle attached to a rope. You grab the bottle, and they pull on the rope to bring you in. After grabbing the bottle, I went underwater. I lost my hat, I lost my sunglasses, and I nearly lost the tube. And the worst part, the group didn't even go to the pub. They couldn't grab the bottles, and so they ended up floating down to the next place anyway.
I had read the warnings that said not to trust the 'waterproof' bags they sold. "My two zip-lock bags will be fine!" I said .
They weren't.
And finally,
"Since I'm going alone and just floating in a tube and don't plan to go to any pubs, I'm not going to get wet and my camera should be *fine* in the two zip lock bags, right?" I said.
Nope.
When I started this trip, I carried only four things of value:
* My phone
* My camera
* My bankcard
* My passport
Two down...
