Thanksgiving Weekend

Time for a long overdue update...

Last Wednesday had to work a little late at Nextep (my old 8-5 job which I still work at part-time right now) so I didn't get to go to a Thanksgiving party that I was considering going to. Its an annual thing that my friends from church do now...lots of games and stuff. I was kinda sorry I missed out, but at the same time I had some good time that evening to brainstorm on various things for my biz.

Thursday I woke up around noon and went out to visit the parents. Lots of good food. It was just the four of us...mom, dad, sis, and me. We watched TV for a little bit and then my mom wanted to show off the new satellite system they just got so she wanted to "buy" us a movie. She's fascinated with pay-per-view movies. Its funny, I think my dad is annoyed by it. Anyway, I somehow managed to talk them into an action movie so we watched Unleashed. After that, my sis left to hang out with her fiance and his family. Me and the 'rents watched Lord of the Rings and I ate thirds, a little more pie, then I napped for a bit. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without a nap. I think that's a rule in my family.

Friday I got up bright and early at 10:30 to meet Josh at the dojo. We practiced for about an hour then we decided to work on some ground fighting techniques that Burt and Kevin have been teaching us. Started off fairly even, then after about five minutes, Josh almost had me in a nice choke hold. I somehow managed to pull my legs up and came up with this sweet move where I roll backwards and end up on his back and almost bend him backwards. He tapped out. I won. His back hurt for the next two days but its all good, he wasn't upset or anything, he just wants me to teach him that move now, lol. I didn't expect it to work that well. After that, we went to his place and got ready for a LAN party. Eight hours of Battlefield 2. Now this is such a welcome change from the last couple of weeks. Things have been so stressful and confusing in so many areas, to just get a break like that and have so much fun this weekend is awesome.

Saturday I was just lazy. Played more computer games with Luke. That evening I went out to eat at Chilis with Josh, Luke, Steve, Angela, Scott, Tammy, and Valorie. It was fun chatting with the whole crew again. Afterward we went back to Josh's place and chilled there 'til about 1:00am.

Today I almost didn't get up but I managed to drag myself out of bed and make it to Sunday school. I found out that Marc is going to be moving back up to Alaska. I kinda wish I talked with him some more, he seemed like a really good guy. Its to bad he has to leave so soon. After Sunday school, I went to grab my usual pew and several people came and gave me a hard time about not being at the party Wednesday. This was really unexpected because to be honest, I didn't think anybody would notice since I'm really not that talkative and I'm usually busy when they all do stuff together outside of church. It was kinda cool when Sarah, Courtney, and Lisa found me and bugged me about it. Makes me wish I had been there. After church, I come home and grab a bite to eat and shoot an email to the main tech guy at church to see if I can take over the website. It was weird, about halfway through the sermon I had about ten different ideas for the church website. What's up with that? I should've been paying more attention to Doug's sermon, not thinking about computers. I think I have some kind of problem...I'm addicted to computers very badly. So after I send the email, my mom calls me to "see what's new." That's such a joke. I can see right through it. When she says that, its "mom language" for "ask me what's on my mind because I have something I need to vent about." I know this woman all to well. :) She had been talking to some friends of hers that she saw at my sister's bridal shower yesterday and she's concerned about all kinds of little details that she gets worked up about so in her mind they are huge issues that need to be dealt with and she thinks she's just the right person to fix them. God bless her, I love her dearly but she gets worked up over so many little things I just have to humor her sometimes. She vented for 45 minutes and I graciously added my "uh-huh" and "yeah" and "you're right" every few minutes while I folded my laundry. Then she gets to how awkward she felt when my sister was receiving her gifts. OKAY MOM! TIME TO STOP! She starts telling me how odd she felt when she saw some of the "presents." I say okay, that's understandable, you're her mother, its okay to feel that way. And then she starts describing some of the "presents." Okay mom, WAY TO MUCH INFORMATION!!!!!!! I really don't want to know these details about my sisters new underwear. I'm getting sick. I end the conversation abruptly. My mother is laughing at me. I don't care, I'm trying to get these images out of my brain. Thanks ma. I work on my website a bit more until homegroup starts. Luke, Ryan, Shelly and I read some more in 2 Samuel tonight and talk for a while. Then we get bored so we start picking on Luke. He took it well though.

Okay, so I've posted more here today than I have in the last month.

Happy Holidays!

Read Matthew 6 - Good stuff there.
