My stories are pretty wacky, with little care for story structure; story structure and a deeper meaning seem inhibitive, even if in a larger context a story without a good structure is often deemed "not worth" others' time. I agree with that to a degree, but the word plays, actions, and dialogue I am allowed to use make it much more fun to make ( Read more... )

very interesting post. what's most important to me in a story is more plot-related than your preferences. characterization is very important to me, but i'm much more intrigued by original plots and events rather than characters. of course, you can't have an interesting plot without interesting characters, and vice versa.

but i would Much rather watch a movie with a fast-paced plot and boring characters than a movie with bizarre characters and no plot whatsoever.

these are all my perceptions, of course. what i see as being no plot might be the most complicated array of events you've ever fucking seen. these are just my principles. if you don't like them, i do have others.

but i do like characters that i can relate to. they don't even have to be "well-rounded." many ppl in the real world are not well-rounded. some ppl are boring. i have no problem with wimpy characters, as long as their goals are interesting. i.e. becoming a slaughterer of deaf mimes.

and a journal is what you make of it. i know plenty of ppl that use their journals Just to talk about events and what they did. if you want to journal about how many times you masturbated to jennifer love hewitt today, feel free. i've been wanting to know.

I should have guessed that you'd be interested in plot/character analysis. Still, I didn't know that fast pace is more important to you (obviously you like "bizarre characters").

People are well-rounded in the sense that the first perception you get from them is always wrong, in one way or another; people surprise you (only because you don't know their past history/what's important to them, at least initially).

I would you think you would be more of a fan of Connelly masturbation than Love Hewitt masturbation.
