Whew! has it been that long?!?!
Ok well I haven’t posted in a while and there is much too much to discuss and cover to fit it all in. So I’ll just pick up where ever.
The holidays were good and I believe everyone got what they wanted, then they all pissed me off so I removed MOST of the music and internet service on the main machine that the kids use. I figure I’ll restore it all back when my ass is sufficiently kissed enough. I’ll tell you its amazing to see how hook on technology they really are.
Stayed semi-drunk most of the time over that two week period.
Got my old laptop working again that I haven’t touched in two years. Apparently I was just too stupid to figure that the battery was somehow shorting out the power supply. But now it works again and I’m happy.
On a similar note, the port replicator that I had bought for the laptop to get me serial port abilities, I ALSO got working. So in addition to the laptop working I got the added Xmas miracle of getting a serial port on it now.
This will allow me to hook my GPS up to this computer with some decent map software that patches into a nationwide radio network of traveling and static weather stations. Its pretty neat, and I hope to bring this setup camping with me on the 21st to Ocala.
Got to go out to dinner last night with Sharon’s parents and grand parents. They were down to attend Sharon’s sister’s graduation from college.
Since they were down we both took the opportunity to announce our engagement. Yes that’s right engagement.
We had a wonderful dinner and it was truly an honor to meet her Grand Parents who are just shy of being octogenarians. Her grandfather was in WWII, so I picked his brain for stories. Apparently he was the guy that would run from foxhole to foxhole with a spool of cable to keep the phones between the front and the base working. Not something I would enjoy.
And although the man was 79 years old he had and iron grip handshake, that softened up a bit once he found out I wasn’t a deadbeat, and that I was Catholic. Strange how that works.
Still having some problems with my truck. I hope to flush the radiator soon and get that squared away.
Weblamer now has me hooked on circuit bending children’s toys and keyboards. Here are two of my most current monstrosities.
