Events
And so ends another weekend, in southern New Jersey. I must admit the weekend did not fly by as I had thought that it would. I suppose this is because I was busy for the majority of it.

By far, it was yard work that monopolized my time over the past two days. Saturday was spent working on the front lawn. Mowing primarily, then the task of edging. For the most part the edging was fine in the places that I have edged the year prior, but there is a long stretch of walkway that had not been touched in years. A total of six inches have creeped over the walkway so I ended up having to cut away strips of grass. I still haven’t finished this. However once I do it will be easy to maintain from that point forward

Sunday, was all about pressure washing the back deck, fence, and any piece of concrete I felt needed a good blast. The pressure washer is so strong that it was actually blowing out pieces of concrete from the walkway. Once I finished washing the deck Sharon started in with a coat of paint. She also stained a picnic table the day before. Once this was complete we rearranged the back area so we could grow plants in our sunroom and still have plenty of room to eat and BBQ if needed.

Next it was onto the shed. We popped all the windows out of the sunroom and needed a place to store them for the summer. The shed was the only option. This required me finding a place in the shed for all of these windows. My shed is a place I seldom like to go. It’s kind of creepy in a sense that it is old, musty, and at one time or another a home to a variety of pests.

The first thing I did was inspect the perimeter of the shed. Sharon had cleared out a bunch of brush the week before to expose an area of the yard that needed much work. In doing this she discovered a great deal of erosion under the concrete slab of the shed. This will require a retaining wall of sorts. Lucky for me, my brother in law is getting a new fence put in and needs to get rid of a gigantic hill in his back yard so I have fill dirt for this next project. But back to the shed.

When I started to clear it out I noticed that there were mouse turds everywhere. Furthermore it would appear that the opaque panels for the top of my sunroom had been brutally violated to make winter lodging for just such an invading mouse. In the end I cleared a space and stacked the windows. I will need to return to this shed problem again sometime this summer.

One thing at a time.

Saturday night Sharon and I FINALLY got a chance to go out to dinner on my company’s wallet. We kept it simple and went to Outback. A good time was had. I drank a couple of fruity girl drinks and then topped it off with a 22oz Blue Moon beer. I felt a little tipsy but not so much that Sharon and I could not walk two miles later that evening. We dropped in on my parents who were having a party for my Aunt’s birthday, we hung around for a bit and had some laughs.
Once again the commute this morning was brutal. I even tried to take an alternate route but unfortunately I was still south of the accident so I was about twenty minutes late. I wish I could telecommute.

Tinkering
Scored and old Dell computer from work, with a few USB serial port converters. THIS will be my logging computer. I can hook it up to my data logging voltmeter and control two PC radios with it. It only came with 256 Meg of memory, but I had another stick that I popped into it for a total of 512. I only had a chance to free up the Admin password, so I still need to work on things.

Also started gathering stuff together to mount my ultrasonic listener. More to come on that.

Reading
Read a little bit on the changing storm systems on Jupiter in the latest issues of the Planetary Report.

Health
Walking about 2 miles a night and try to fit in about 2 miles in the day. My eating has improved a little. Over the weekend I ate very well with the exception of Saturday night but that was a treat.

Last night Sharon and I took buddy down to a school field to run around a bit. I got a little curious and walked off into the woods. After a short recon mission, I came back to get Sharon and the dog. We walked around a bit and found an access point to Mantua Creek. This immediately made Sharon and I want a canoe. So I am now keeping my eye out for a cheap fixer upper.

Dream
Had one that seemed pretty important for some reason, however it is now lost in the ether.

Weather
The weather was perfect. Sunny in and around the 70’s all weekend. Rain was forecast for Sunday but I only seen a few drops.

Mindless Banter
For the past few days I have been experiencing bad coffee karma. For whatever reason on G-d’s green Earth, I have been having problems with my coffee lids. Yesterday I drank almost a whole cup of coffee before I realized I was wearing half of it, and this morning my coffee lid has a big crack in it. What have I done to piss off the Lord of Java?

Daily Good News
13,598 days and still breathing.

Opinion
I am of the opinion that when two political candidates lecture each other on setting politics aside as if they are trumping the other’s false intentions, that both are bathing in sophism, and will come out of the tub smelling worse then when they went in.
