DUCATIS!!!
Ok, well it took me long enough to write about the Ducati test ride this last weekend...
The Ducati Semi rolled into town up at Scottsdale Ducati bringing the new 07 bikes to show off. They had the S4Rs(ohlins), 999, multistrada 1000, sport classic(2- one w/ termi exhst, 1 stock), ST3, multistrada 620, monster 695, and SS800. We(Ash, Jon, Charles and myself) all signed up for the bike we wanted to ride at the Noon session and sat back for about an hour chatting before hand.
I had a FABULOUS ride on the S4Rs, Ash took the 999 and Jon ended up with the Sport Classic with the termi exhausts. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY TOO MUCH FUN!
The ride was supposed to be 35 mins, ended up being close to 1 hr due to traffic/group seperation issues.
We were all called 1 by 1 to the bikes, mine was first behind the lead control rider. Ash was next, and Jon was one more back behind Ash. The group varied from probably my age(being the youngest I'm positive) to mid 60s.
There was an older man setting everything up, getting everyone in place and signing the paperwork. He called us all out and had us stand next to our bikes before telling each and everyone of us a little factoid about the bikes we were riding as a "heads up". Last thing he said "Who's riding the S4Rs? YOU!" *he paused- then he held one finger in the air and he has a slight smirk on his face while curling it in* "One finger on the brake, or she'll put ya on yer ass"
I started to chuckle a little with that comment but didn't really think too much of it. I'd ridden steel braided and brembo setups before with no problems. We all geared up and started the bikes. The older man came over to me and gave me a different pointer "You can use 2 fingers, just only use one when you are going 60+ mph, thats when she really starts to grab" Keeping that in mind, I relaxed a little and revved the monster. The low purr sent chills up my legs as I felt the vibrations from the Testastretta motor beneith me waiting to show me what it was capable of. I knew it was going to be a fun ride...
