Tool and other stuff
Howdy folks. Time for a quick update:
1. New Tool Album: I must say, my initial impressions were less than ecstatic. I thought it was good, not great. I guess part of my problem was the same as Ron's: after 5 years I would have liked to hear more actual music. But then again, the same could be said of Lateralus. There's A LOT of random noise on that too. Probably more than 10,000 Days. But boy, we played that to death at 205 Elizabeth. But even more than that, at first I just wasn't overly excited about the "real" songs. But, as usual, the more I listened to it the more I liked it. I must say, my 2 favourite songs are Wings for Marie (PT.1) and 10,000 Days (Wings PT.2). The first 5 songs on the album are quite amazing now that I think about it. As for the packaging: I assume it's the same you all have, with the crazy stereoscopic lenses? A little strange, and not really my thing, but interesting nonetheless.
2. Trip Home: It's official, I have booked my flight home. I'm flying out of Osaka on July 31st and flying back from Deer Lake on August 17th. Bloody expensive though. It's about 220,000 yen, which is about $2,200 Cdn. Ugh. Oh well, I really want to come home for a while and see friends and family. The time of the year that I am flying home is the most expensive (or maybe 2nd most) time of the year, but that's the only time I can make it home. Can't wait to get back. BBQs, Beers, Golf, Poker, Pool: gonna be great.
Anyway, I gotta get on the ball. I'm going to go watch some footy later. Kobe has a team, and they suck, but it's still fun to watch. I only watch footy with Brits and Kiwis, so I haven't heard the word "soccer" in a while.

P.S. I just listened to Game 1 between Buffalo and Ottawa. Holy craziness Batman! And Buffalo just won it OT. That was one of the wildest finishes in regulation I've ever LISTENED to. Wish I could have watched it :(
