Was is Silent Hill.
No kidding, I woke up thinking exactly that this morning.
* After all... Don't we have the
Fog World when Lou reaches
Byng Place?
* And the Deadlands could be the
Otherworld/Nowhere.
* Not to mention that the sound of bells is associated with the passing into the border between the land of the living and the Deadlands. In the game, it's a siren howling, but the central theme remains "a sound associated with the world changing".
More seriously: I didn't do that on purpose. I wrote all that stuff back in November/December, and at the time, I hadn't been in contact with Silent Hill since 1999. But upon seeing the first game again, part of SH2, and then the 2006 movie, it all dawned on me.
What I wonder is if I was sort of influenced by my memories of the game from 10 years ago, or if it's just a coincidence (since, as I said, I've been paing attention to SH again in the past 2 months only, not when I did NaNoWriMo last year). I thought my main influence was WiWo's World of Darkness, but it seems like something else was at work (now who did puke in my Subconscious? Huh? Huh?). *rolleyes*
