back in us
i'm back in the office today, and going through my pile of about 400 e-mails in my inbox...it's hard to believe that yesterday i was swimming in the caribbean sea, and today i'm in the cold-cold (yes, 59 degrees fahrenheit is cold compared to 90 degrees fahrenheit) california...
on our last full day in playa del carmen, right after we gave up on the whole beach day idea since it kept on raining, the sun came out, and the weather drastically changed from pretty miserable to unbelievably great, but at that time we were not ready to go back to the beach...however, on that very day, my crazy dream of seeing a monkey in its natural habitat came closer to reality than at any other time -- i was able to hold a little super-cute squirrel monkey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squirrel_monkey) on my palms, and at some point she even jumped on my head...
the next day -- the day we were leaving -- i woke up at 9 in the morning and ran to the beach for a quick swim...the weather was great, and the water was very warm...
we tried to stay in playa for as long as possible: checked out around noon, had brunch at a place across from the hotel called la vagabunda, strolled to the bus station, got our ticket, hung out at the ferry pier for an hour, and left the little town at 2pm for a 5:40pm flight out of cancun airport...
