[Here, John, have one (1) best friend walking awkwardly up to you, looking kind of like she's about to deliver some unfortunate news. Ye gods, she's hoping this isn't about to make things uncomfortable at all. Damn anons.]

[She stops right in front of him, and just... puts a hand on his shoulder, because that's how you're supposed to do this, right? If she has to kiss her best friend she at least doesn't want to stink at it.]

[And... she freezes up just a little, because she sees that he's kind of weirded out by this. So she pulls back a couple of inches.]

Nothing's "up". What have I done to suggest that something is "up"?

[She takes her hand off his shoulder.]

[She puts her hand back on his shoulder, leans up so that they're even at eye level, and plants a kiss right on the very corner of his mouth. Almost on his cheek, even.]
