So yeah . . . another slow day at work means another day of lotsa LJ posts. Most of which won't be read as a good number of folks on my friends' list is gearing up or already on their way to Ota-muh-kon. I'll be joining you all tomorrow nite! Whether or not I can get into the actual con is a different story . . . XD
Anyhoose,
I finally got around to putting some decent playing time on King of Fighters: NeoWave. I mean, I've only had it since April. Had to play it sooner or later! They say it's just a beefed up version of KOF 2002. It feels a bit different to me from that game since I have that one (plus the end boss wasn't Omega Rugal--dunno who he was, but he looked like an evil Andy Bogard or something.) It definitely looks different too. No jagged edges on the characters and whatnot . . . something I thought was very noticeable when we played on the newer KOFXI on the PS2.
Only thing is . . . there are no subtitles to anything in this game. Nothing is said in the winning screens after the fight. Nothing is said in the ending sequence. All adds up to a really lazy localization for these shores (unless this holds true for the arcade version as well--then I have no complaints other than, SNK Playmore was churning out a really filler title before the made KOFXI.)
Oh yeah, and while I like using Robert in that game . . . fighting against him is a bitch. Especially with that MAX2 move of his!!! had to continue twice against the Art of Fighting Team because of him!
And the computer loves to Just Defend, so don't go jabbing willy-nilly.
Unfortunately though, for the time being, unless you have an Xbox you won't be able to play this. Even if you do have an Xbox, it is my understanding that it had an extremely low print run. We can only hope it is part of the list of games SNK Playmore plans on releasing here in the US next year. it is available for the PS2 in Japan if you can play imports!
Tonight I hope to go see Mar, Dave and Val for dinner and whatnot. Gonna miss having Mar in Philly, but what ya gonna do?
PS: Picked up the 2-Disc Special Edition of V For Vendetta, last night. I'll get around to watching that again . . . maybe after DragonCon XD
