I semi-lurked around long enough to realize that there is lj-drama kicking up again (and by that I mean I read my f!list for the first time in a week today), but I'm going to promptly ignore it all. ;; So. That set aside

Rai, Ren, Kyouya; Adopting a kittenyuulinMarch 25 2008, 19:50:52 UTC
Incidentally, despite his rough, prickly exterior, Kyouya really did like to take care of things. He had taken Ren in for a night before out of arguably motherly instinct, and he even continued to share his apartment with said boy and his “boyfriend” (as Kyouya appointed him) out of the goodness of his heart. At least, it was the goodness of his heart or just plain pity. Possibly something in between.
He liked to believe he was a relatively sensible person. After his various experiences and encounters, he found it unreasonable to not be one. This was probably the primary reason he got along well with Rai. Or rather, he got along with Rai on sensible matters for the most part--Ren was the insensible one most of the time, and Ren was the one who caused insensible disagreements between the two. Arguably, Ren caused a myriad of disagreements between Kyouya and Rai (such as who got to share the bed or couch with him), but that was a completely different story.
On this particular matter, it was terribly difficult for the two to disagree.
The way Ren held up the wide-eyed, frazzled looking wheat-colored kitten in their faces was a bit distracting. The side-by-side resemblance was incredibly striking--a matter both Rai and Kyouya could not help but agree on, as communicated through their brief exchange of glances. The prospect of keeping the tiny thing was a bit difficult to digest, especially considering the already cramped environment they were sporting.
But it was Ren, and if anything, the light-haired boy certainly knew how to work his dark-haired companions. Just a clueless, wide-eyed look did wonders. The way he was completely sincere about it all was almost painful.
“Theoretically, we can’t,” Rai evaluated after a long pause, his nimble mind working through all the ups and downs.
“I agree,” Kyouya conceded readily with an exasperated nod. But Ren had made a tiny, unconscious whine, which spurred him to continue, “But can you really toss out Ren’s twin so easily?”
“Wah? Hey!”
“...good point. And if it’s anything like Ren, who knows what kind of trouble it could get into,” the long-haired boy agreed with a thoughtful nod, ignoring Ren and adjusting his glasses.
“As the boyfriend, you should know,” Kyouya retorted dryly, rolling his eyes vaguely. (No, that was not a smile.)
“... Why thank you, Mother.”
By then, Ren was rather confused. He was still holding the kitten up at his two friends as they conversed in a manner that suggested they were hardly aware of the fact he was even present. Brilliant smile receding a fraction, Ren retracted the kitten and nuzzled it affectionately. Curiously, he asked, “Does this mean I get to keep ‘im?”
In response, both Kyouya’s and Rai’s hands reached out to ruffle Ren’s hair simultaneously, earning an undignified squawk. It was impossible to refuse Kimura Ren.
“You know,” Kyouya began in a deadpan expression as he turned to Rai with crossed arms and a pointedly raised eyebrow. “This is exactly what they consider the definition of ‘whipped.’”

And Rai simply smiled.
