In this period I'm attending lesson but, because of I don't need to study this stuff for last japanese exam (I'll study and do it in Japan), I've lot of free time. I'm spending it reading books, seeing movies and tv shows, meeting friends, walking throught Venice and visiting lot of cute shops. And sleeping soooo much. I'm really relaxed and relieved, even my dark circles are reduced a little. Yeah! ^O^ The lack of internet at home helps me to go sleep at a decent hour at night, but I've to make long walks with my heavy portable pc to be able to check my interests online. ç_ç
This saturday, even if I haven't planned it, I finally see "Repo! The genetic Opera" by Darren Lynn Bousman, this poor man who wrote screenplaysand do direction for the wrost teen horror bullshits of late 5 years for rising a little of money and making real his dream, realizing this film.
I was excited by this script from the announce of its realization, BUT, I really don't know why, after a good welcome from critics, the movie simply disapperead from american cinemas, so the approssimative percentual of probability to see it in Italy was about 4/5%, a number next to the miracle. After some searching I was able to find the movie, BUT it's a musical, a no-stop musical, ALL the film is sung, so I really really need subtitles. There are some saints who made them in italian. I really love you guys!!
I opened the file only to see how it looks (the trailers did not show so much) and I saw all without a stop. It's a good movie, with lots of mistakes and problems, but with a great passion behind all the building. How can I describe it? Take "The Phantom of Opera" by Webber, add more songs (with a taste for heavy metal) , take all the money off, placed all in a sort of mixture between "V for Vendetta" and "Blade Runner" and ta-daaan! You'll have Repo!. It is an adaptation from an already existing musical, based on heavy metal sounds (somewhere I read even XJapan worked on this). About the story...well, use wikipedia, because I want to use my english last powers for making a comment.
First of all it's lovely to see a good movie, looking good even if you know that the capital behind was very limitated. All works together at their bests, even the quite strange mixture of actors and actresses works...yes, even Paris Hilton, because of her character is herself but in a future gothic form. It's fantastic to see that Anthony Stewart Head still has a life. Shilo's actress, Alexa Vega, give a really good performance, looking innocent and pure (but when she sang the song about 17 years old, she remembers me Miley Cyrus! XD). My favourite character was surely Blind Mag, a sort of CLAMP Oluha, with a rich voice and a fashion gothic attitude that for me it's absolutely impossible not to love. The song about Chromaggia, sung in Italian, is awesome. The prove of Sarah Brightman is impressive as predictable. Even her false lashes. XD
I'ts quite strange, and heavy, a musical sung in ALL of its part, without a single dialogue. Probabily the OST is *really* long.
You've to see this film only if you like all those movies I metioned above, adding a little sense of trash and b movie, or you're out. And, if you're weak to splatter and violence, it's not a movie for you, no no no!
