Arashi Discovery Mar 27th 2013 Translated - Riida
Good morning, I'm Ohno Satoshi of Arashi!
Here is today's quote of the day! ^^
“Why is it you can’t forget what you really want to forget?”
Ah. I see. This quote came from a short story written by Murakami Haruki-san called the ‘The Silence’ from the book called "The Elephant Vanishes". 'The Silence’ was published by Kodansha in 1991 in a collection of short stories and has been accepted as group reading textbooks for middle school and high school students.
Oh! There are times when you want to forget some things in life, but it's actually quite hard to do so because they leave an imprint in your mind and you can seem to get rid of them. Although there are so many things in my life that I don't want to forget. Except I do want to forget my failures that I made in life; yet if I didn’t have those memories, I think I cannot improve right?
On the contrary, there are a lot of things I want to remember but can’t, for myself at least. Well, like Kanji for example, I want to memorize them but I can’t. Although I am at Level 8 on the Kanji Aptitude Test! (laughs) :P
And then there’s scripts to memorize for past stage plays, etc... I try to memorize them bit by bit, but I tend to forget them really fast. For example when the show is over and after less than a month I already forget those lines of mine that I did for it. Like I would at least forget half of it already, right?
For example when we did the Tokyo performances & after it ended and we had about 2 weeks free time until the Osaka performances, I tend to get nervous that I would forget my lines during the intermissions of the show. So, I would keep on rehearsing them until I got them memorized in my mind again.
I mean, if I stood there memorizing the lines and saying them out loud, then I remembered them completely.
But let's say um the play that I was doing was finished; I can tell you this, in about 2 weeks after that, if someone asked me to deliver my lines to them, I probably wouldn’t be able to say half of them to you. I mean I seriously have a knack for forgetting things like that. It’s like, “Next!”. It’s terrible you know. Mm.
So that's why I like to keep all my old scripts at my parents’ house. And occasionally when I have time to look at them again, I’d be like, “Ahh, ah, I really said that before! I did!” Mm. It feels as though someone else did it & not me. It’ll be awesome if I could retain all that in my head, huh? Mm.
Well, for me it's impossible, ne! LOL! (laughs)
Well, that's it. This is Ohno Satoshi reporting to you today!
Yeah...that is from Satoshi ohno radio show recently!!! Thanks to Twosen LJ for the translation.. Talking about Murakami Haruka, I did saw his books before at book shops but I didn't bought it. Maybe next time I should read some of her books. I also had the some problem too satoshi san..I had this short term memories syndrome. But it is only for unimportant things. If the thing is really important to me, I will sure remember until like forever. ^^"
After reading Mukai san blog last night, now I know what is SPEC, ^^"
