She laughed. Loudly and clearly so that everyone in the house could hear her. He just wrinkled his nose and tried to turn the page in the photo album they were looking at but she securely held the thick page between her delicate fingers.

"Awww, Yuyan~" she cooed, "You were so cute!"

He grumbled.

"He was always kind of a messy eater; I always had to keep a napkin at the ready." His mom chimed in with a smile. The girl, who was sandwiched between mother and son on the living room couch, grabbed onto her boyfriend's arm and rested her head on his shoulder.

"Its okay, Yuyan, I'll make sure I carry extra tissues with me when we go out to eat next time."

He groaned this time, dropping his scarlet face into his hands. She rubbed his back in soft, slow circles before kissing the top of his head.

Then she whispered, "Yuya, its okay. I have yet to see a 3 year old not have chocolate ice cream all over his face at one point in their life."

He groaned again, louder, while shaking his head. With a roll of her eyes she pulled his face from his hands then gave him a kiss. Looking directly into her playful brown eyes, he melted like ice in the sun. He kissed her back, only breaking it when his mother cleared her throat. The couple shot away from each other like the other was a heated element.

"You're still my little boy; your dear mother doesn't want to see you grow up." She smiled at him before glancing down at the picture of her 3 year old son sitting in his high chair, chocolate ice cream dripping off of his chin as his wide brown eyes stared happily into the camera. She ran her thumb over the photo then looked back over at her son and his girlfriend (whom he was tightly holding the hand of). His mother turned her face away quickly from the two after handing them the book and walking off into the kitchen.

The couple exchanged a look of worry before Yuya followed his mom into the kitchen. That's when he noticed she was crying. Instantly he pulled her into a hug where she continued to softly cry on his broad shoulder and held him tightly. When did he become taller than her? When had so much time passed? She pulled away slightly, her eyes trailing the body of the man her son had become. A man, who was supporting himself with a job he loved, immersed with people he loved and who loved him too. An immense wave of pride then washed over her as she held onto him tightly once more.

"I love you, Yuya, even when we're both 100 years old, I will still love you." his mother sniffled.

"I love you too, Mom." She smiled up at him, completely pulling away this time and wiping the tears from her eyes. "Now, go on, have fun with Rena-chan, it's silly to worry about your mother on your birthday." She laughed lightly while wiping more tears away. The concern transformed itself into reassurance as he planted a soft kiss on his mother's forehead.

"We'll be back for dinner, alright?" She nodded waving him out of the kitchen. Rena looked up at her boyfriend from the photo album that still rested in her lap worry still plastered on her face but with a light shake of his head made her softly return his smile.

Sitting down beside her and slinging his arm around her shoulder he kissed her temple softly, "On your birthday," he started,” we are going to your place, flipping through an old photo album and making your mother cry."

Rena laughed lightly pulling the boy, by the front of his shirt, into a soft kiss, "Just make sure you bring some ice cream with you."
