Who: Hiei and Kurama.
Where: Little Shuuichi's bedroom.
When: Friday midnight.
Summary: Hiei's revenge.

Cutting through the air of the still night, he drew closer to his destination with a devious smirk on his face...Oh yes he had rather important business to tend to.

He found his footing on one of the lonely branches outside of young Shuichi's room. "Time to take over where Kurama's half assed attempt left off..." He smirked in satisfaction of what he was about to do as he opened the window soundlessly...let's just say it was a hobby.

The room was obnoxiously dark and the silence was softly wavered by the slow rhythm of the boy's breathing as he slept. No one else seemed to be in that room. The moonlit carpet right where Hiei had landed was the only illumination of the room, randomly flashed by the sound and lights of a passing-by car.

His smirk deepened at the darkness, and when the cars passed by their lights ignited the crimson in his hues as a sort of monster. The boy was lucky to be asleep. He cautiously trotted towards the cage, not even needing to see to know where the rodent was...the smell was thick enough.

A soft shuffling sound was heard from the cage, besides the heady odor of Ganju's sawdust and seeds. Outside, the clouds had meshed into a field of vapor and steel, easily covering the sky and holding eager raindrops. Inside the cage, Ganju-kun the gerbil was nibbling on a sunflower seed hungrily. And he looked up, sensing a predator was nearby. He stared at Hiei with it's large beady eyes.

His cruel smirk wouldn't fade as he stared down at the disturbing, chubby bastard of a creature. Slowly he leaned forward, as a cat, examining his prey before he went for the kill...just to make it all the more nervous.

Ganju's long whiskers trembled, just as his little body with cream fur. His claws gripped the seed and he hopped to the corner of the cage, looking at Hiei in terror. But the shock was utter when a slender hand slipped into the cage and picked Ganju's tail. Heavy lidded emerald eyes beheld the panicking rodent as it squirmed in the air.

....Slowly his stare traveled and lifted as the rodent did and then to the figure holding it.

Ganju kept squirming an screeching, a lightning struck the background illuminating the bedroom, piercing the darkness and revealing his face, evidently half asleep. He stared at Ganju hungrily.

"Kurama..." He hissed quietly, but at the same time his eyebrow twitched slightly. "So...you've given into the temptations after all." He had decided it would be more interesting to see Kurama eat the rodent with his human body.

Ganju kept squirming on its own instinct, few hairs ripped from it's tail and he bounced down into Hiei's hair.

One of Hiei's eyes closed annoyed as he reached up for the pest...and when he found it....

The small rodent slipped down and away from Hiei's hand, and accidentally delved into the Jagan Master's cloak. It's fur was soft and tickling, like the feathers of a bird.

Hiei's hues seemed to disappear behind his pupils as he wiggled slightly trying to find the beast..."You're dead..." He threatened in his annoyance.

Ganju-kun kept screeching with it's long whiskers ticking Hiei in a fiendish way. Meanwhile, the redhead stared back at Hiei wiggling around. It would have been an utterly shameful scene if he had actually seen the fire apparition.

Which was why Hiei was thankful for the darkness. He swatted for the beast trying to squish it's fragile legs and stop the feeling...he would skin it alive....slowly.

The gerbil screeched loudly being hit by Hiei's hand, and it fell down from his cloak onto the floor, twitching. And when it did, the redhead picked it by the tail, with the same hungry stare. "Good job, pawn."

Hiei glared intensely and shook his clothes free of a few...surprises. "Hmm eat it..." He said, he wanted to see the red head's face...or what he could make out of it...once that thing hit his human taste buds...He also hoped when he bit down on it...it caused a certain reaction in his mouth....However, his hopes and thoughts were disturbed...by the soft springing shriek from the bed off to the side....

He lifted Ganju by the tail, to the level of his eyes. Foxes feasted from the flesh of small rodents and other miniature animals, this was not the first or the last time a vulpine creature would devour a gerbil. Though, the creaking sound of wood made him freeze in place.

Hiei grinned as he blended with the darkness easy enough...simply closing his eyes, which were the only visible sign of him, not to say...he still couldn't see.

"H..hello is some one there?" Came the voice of Kurama's sibling through the darkness, a bit doused by sleep, but overwhelmed with worry.
<
The next few seconds would be vital...he was reaching for the lamp beside his bed...

He stared at the boy sitting on the bed, it was a dream, Makai, hunting through a desolated forest and he had just happened to found rodent. His step-brother was a mere demon rambling through the woods, nothing the Youko should mind.

Two decisions to be made...he could...now pull Kurama from the room fast enough and save him from the awkwardness of the situation...or he could taste something better than the gerbil of both of their attention this night.....revenge.

He had figured once the light was hit Kurama would awaken and he slithered to the window quickly, not abandoning the situation for just incase reasons.

When the boy hit the light, the jaganshi was outside, and melded to the darkness on that lonely branch once again.

The soft glow of the lamp was enough to illuminate the bedroom, exposing his silhouette to the boy's sights. He gasped softly, and almost released the gerbil from his hand, but he controlled his body holding Ganju safely. Shuuichi's room, at night, holding the gerbil. It was evident and he inwardly cringed. He could only offer his step brother a soft smile of uneasiness.
Outside, the sky roared and raindrops fell copiously enough to drench Hiei.

Hiei sat drenched on the branch, a small course of lightening igniting his hues once in a while as he examined the two and waited for this to play out.

"B...brother?" The boy inquired clearly baffled.

His hands softly cradled the gerbil, which was now quivering in pain. Hiei's blow had broken one of the fragile bones forming its leg, the beady eyes were now narrowed to pained shards of obsidian. Kurama sighed, attempting to remain serene about the whole situation, most embarrassing. "Shuuichi... I heard a noise ... and instantly awakened, to find Ganju-kun writhing on the floor. Perhaps he was startled by a lightning and jumped from the cage."

The small boy frowned slightly as he rubbed his eyes and stood out of the bed looking to the gerbil. "Oh. I see...I'm sorry I was having a strange dream and I thought..." Sweatdrop. "Well...we can fix him right?" He asked hopeful looking up at his sibling.

"How touching..." The apparition mumbled lowly outside, but he had seen it...the embarrassment in Kurama's demeanor...his purpose was served. "Thank you pawn.." He chuckled slightly to himself as he dashed off.

"Yes, I believe I can. Do not worry, at school ...I learned a couple of useful treatments," he replied through a soft grin. He knew he would use the sap of a plant which would miraculously
mend the rodent's bone and sinew. He noticed the soft movement of a branch outside, and the presence of a familiar youki. His features reflexively locked into an uneasy expression. Hiei had seen it.
"...You can return to sleep." He offered the boy a meek smile as he turned back to leave. "Oyasumi-nasai."

"Oyasumi-nasai!" The boy replied and bowed slightly, understanding to obey his older brother and return to bed with a look of gratefulness in his eyes.

kurama, hiei
