Who: Karasu and Shura
Where: the goat residence
When: evening
Summary: Karasu comes to drop off some books for Shura.
Karasu hefted the few books in his hand, wandering silently towards the Goat's domain. His steps were calm, though for the moment he had assumed the human Corbin's visage, giving him the grey eyes and maskless face that was needed to keep eyes from watching him...too closely.
Ah...but he arrived soon, clutchign the books close, treasured and knocking once, lightly with the other hand.
There was the sound of running feet a moment after the knock and soon, Shura opened the door. "Karasu!" he smiled, moving aside to let the other in. Around the house, he did not bother with the disguise so his horn was visible. "Did you bring the books you got me?" he asked, trying to peer at the books in Karasu's arms with curiosity.
The moment he had stepped past the portal of the doorway his hair seemed to lengthen, his flesh growing a shade or two paler. Color bled into his eyes once more and that mask was apparent over his face. Gingerly the books were given over into Shura's arms. Two were ancient...by humans standards. A few hundred years old, the covers faded and tattered. Two were about the history of that region of Ireland, one about warfare, another a rather...heavily outdaetd (if medieval can be considered passe) form of psychology and...demonology.
"For you..."
"There are no books like these in the library, thank you!" Shura said as he sat on the couch to look at the books with fascination. Outside the back window, the pony was grazing in the yard. Shura was not fazed by Karasu's change, he knew that most of the demons were under disguise when they went around the human world. He thought it was silly but he would not question his father's orders.
Karasu drifted away for a moment, not impatiently, merely inclining his head, glad that his gift had been appreciated. He said nothing, moving to the window to study the creature, never...fully turning his back on Shura though, either.
Shura lowered the books, looking thoughtful suddenly. "Karasu-san, do know, what's his name...the older Toguro?" the goatling asked. He had spoken to Ani over the journals and was a bit confused...and slightly weirded out.
For a moment he didn't reply, except for a very subtle stiffening of his shoulders, hands drifting down to grip the windowsill. Turning hsi head, eyes narrowed on Shura, he asked softly. "Why do you wish to know Aniki...?"
"He left a note on the journals saying he wanted to play with me. Do you know him?" Shura asked. "He is very weird, is it true he really plays and talks to dolls too?"
"Stay away from him...if you would prefer to stay...whole." he said simply.
"So thats why Youda said to stay away from him," Shura mentioned thoughtfully with a frown. "I told him no, Youda and Father say I need to ask permission anyway."
Karasu didn't enjoy talking about the other, that much was apparent for a single flicker of hatred in his eyes before he seemed to calm down once more. "He's...not someone I would get involved with...if I were...you."
"Ok!" Shura nodded. "He wanted to cut off my horn but I told him he would be dead before he touched it and he said it was...perverted and to ask you want that meant," the goatling said matter-of-factly.
"Wanted to...cut off your horn....?" a perplexed look crossed his eyes before snorting. "I wouldn't even acknowledge that he lives, little one..."
"Alright," Shura nodded, accepting Karasu's explanation, before jumping up from the couch, leaving the books on the table. "Like my pony, Father gave it to me," he said proudly, pointing to the gray pony outside. Even despite bad grades, Shura was relieved Yomi or Youda had not taken it away.
"A...fine beast." he said after a moment, simply. It was obvious it was special to the boy. Hands drifted to his back before he whirled about, pointing to a chair. "May I sit down...?"
"Sure," Shura nodded. Youda was busy as was Yomi but he was sure neither would mind Karasu visiting since Youda had mentioned to him Karasu might be looking after him instead of Onji, which was a big relief.
Karasu threw himself down comfortably, letting his eyes once more take in the room they were in at that moment. Studying everything in that thoughtful manner before his eyes found Shura once more, silent.
"Your lucky you got to go on the mission, Father wouldn't let me go anywhere and Youda had that old far Onji look after me," the young goat sulked as he flopped on the couch, not happy that even his father treated him like a little kid.
"It was vaguely interesting...." he replied, waving his hand idly. "I would have preferred having more fun with my victims..."
"Where did you get to go? Youda wouldn't tell me anything, it's not fair," Shura frowned slightly. "I even trained..."
"Ireland...it was...lovely, if different from our own world...." he murmured softly, glancing to the other. Shura was trained but still far, far too young.
"Ireland? I've never heard of that place before. I wish Father let me go, it was boring here with Onji and Youda," Shura admitted.
"A pity...but your father likely simply wanted to keep you safe." he murmured, glancing at the other curiously.
"I know but I am strong! Father never lets me do anything but makes me go to school and gather information," the young goat pouted, he wanted to fight like everyone else seemed to be able to do.
"And think of how much stronger you'll be for it...it isn't...all about fighting...that's simply the most...enjoyable part, little Shura..."
"It isn't?" Shura asked, confused. "What else is there?"
"The hunt....the beauty of stlaking someone, knowing that they will fall at your hands...it's all...a...game...." he purred softly, cupping his hands and releasing them as if capturing a small bird.
"But that takes time..." Shura pointed out, he was young and impatient, he didn't like waiting for something and wanted what he wanted when he wanted it.
"...then you are not yet ready to fight." he answered smugly.
"Not fair," Shura sulked, slouching down on the couch but accept it, he knew one day he would be a great Makai Lord like his father but he was still impatient.
"You are young....enjoy it, embrace it....for all too soon you'll be grown..." Now that being an adult was a bad thing, by ANY means...
"Father says I will be a Makai Lord like him!" Shura said with a grin now, clearly looking forward to this. "I will be stronger than him and everyone else!"
A wave of his hand, showing for him to clam himself without...actually having to request it. "Of course...you will...." he purred, and it was sure that under his mask he was smiling a Cheshire smile.
Shura grinned happily. "Youda says your going to look after me instead of Onji, is that true? Onji is boring and my pony tried to eat him..."
"I will...now and then...I have other duties but I have no problem with being around you, young Shura..." on the contrary the other interested him...reminded him of the past...
"I'm glad! I will practice my English and read the books," Shura promised seriously, he meant it. He was dedicated to being as smart as he could be as well.
"Practice everything." he intoned lazily. "Readig your english...speaking it....know their history because sadly...it's easy to see demonic history within their tomes..."
"Why would demons live in the human world?" Shura folded his arms and rested his chin on the arm rest as he peered at Karasu with those bright violet eyes.
A soft chuckle, leaning forward. "Ah little one...a few centuries ago we all did....humans were our pets...our prey....until...the Reikai stepped in...."
"So...Father is merely taking it back then?" Shura asked, it was starting to make sense.
A small nod. "In a sense...after all...the only thinghumans have is fear...fear makes them act...so very irattionally...they kill themselves like any low class hoarde of youkai....but..." he leaned forward. "They have....numbers..."
"But they are still easy to defeat like lower class demons though...right?" Shura asked."I don't get why it has taken so long to take over the human world then...Father is stronger than any demon."
"There are numbers...and their technology....well..it doesn't rival Gandara...but it can come close...." he acknowledged grudgingly, running a nail over his wrist idly
"Ohhh...I get it," Shura nodded, still a bit confused but he would ask Yomi or Youda later for more information.
KArasu offered no more information for the moment, relaxing back into his chair, eyes closing for a moment. It was a lot to digest, especially for someone who had never been to the human realm...or knew little of it beforehand.
Shura was silent as well, thinking things over. He was still young as well, so he was still inexperienced in many matters. Youda had left him alone for the day, so the house was quiet as always.
But time would change that, Karasu knew. Shura was young, but he had two older dmeons looking after him, three if Karasu counted himself...which he did on some level...he could after all teach Shura quite a bit...
Shura yawned, but he did not want to admit it was close to his bed time as the evening got late. Youda had forgotten to remind him to actually go to bed so he was determined to stay up.
But Karasu could see that the other was growing tired, if onyl a little. Chuckling softly, shortly he rose, stretching. "Well...." he began softly, glancing to the younger. "I will return...soon, then."
"Ok! Thank you for the books,, Karasu-san" Shura said happily, he would read them as soon as he could but for now, he was falling asleep despite his attempts to stay up.
A stroke of a pale hand over the other's head before he moved away and towards the door, letting himself out. Shura was an innocent, for a demon...but a demon like himself nonetheless. Smiling grimly beneath his mask he moved down the street, his human form bleeding over his more elegant youkai form, enclosing him in a safe costume.
