I ended up with more time for tarot reading than I usually would today, so I decided to do a three-card spread with the Pacific Arcana deck.

Normally when I'm doing one-card spreads, I tend to think in terms of general/meditative stuff. But with this one, I decided to do a larger spread, and also wanted to look at the specific issue of fandom + everything else, because things have been a bit hectic lately.

01. Card of the day: Page of Swords, reversed. The emphasis for this card, in this particular deck, is on combining thought and action. Which makes sense enough, considering what's been going on. Reversed, can be caution against letting others interfere (though reversed cards should be taken lightly in this deck).

02. Personal situations: Eight of Pentacles, upright. This card has to do with prudence, balance, order. It also emphasizes cooperative activities and building relations. Well....

03. How to approach it: The Fool, reversed. In other words: Wander, go on adventures, take risks, but also - I think the reversed position suggests - take caution. Proceeding without caution could be dangerous. (Then again, it's Newt's card, so proceeding without caution could also be really fucking cool but, uh, not recommended.)

Soooo, end result is that I'm finding out things that I already know, but it's nice to see it set out all nice and neat like that. This new project is going to be fun, and I'm glad that I took it on. But it's important that I remember to be confident in myself and my decisions, and while I might seek feedback from the community, I shouldn't rely on others to make the decisions too much. (I should also be proactive as far as things like... promotion goes. Going to need to look into that.)

This can be a great way to bring people together and build new relationships in the fandom. But again, that's going to require being proactive, and balancing community activity with everything else. It's great to take risks, but I also need to be careful too.

Pulling this over to real-life, the same things apply: I'm enjoying this, but I'm going to have to make sure not to get too deep into it, especially since the busiest part of the work year is right around the corner. Combining thought + action should apply to my offline life as well - both in terms of what social life I have (writing club counts, right?) and in terms of work-related things. Think, act, balance, and proceed.

I know all this - but like I said before, part of the point is to set everything out neatly and organize my thoughts. I'm going to try to keep this in mind for the rest of the week. :D
