I had expected that I'd have this weekend to myself. Not so. Parents did not decide to go out of town after all. Alas. How disappointing. Oh well, I'll... get done all the things that I need to do somehow, I'm sure.

My copy of the Over the Garden Wall DVD came in the mail yesterday! I'm very excited to re-watch it - I expect that now that I know everything that happens, the story will have another fascinating layer to it. Plus, it'll be great to have it on-hand for icon/photoset purposes... I took a bunch of screencaps when I was watching it the first time, but it's great to have hard format too.

Managed to get the yarn I need for that project. They didn't have the colours I wanted - was hoping for cream and dark brown, had to settle for cream and grey instead - but that's all right, I think the result will look fine. It's just a practice knit, anyway. Dunno what I'll do with these when I'm done; I don't need yet another pair of mittens. Maybe I'll see if anyone at work wants them.

Started listening to The Mountain Goats recently... I'd heard the name around before, but never bothered to look into their music. But then a friend linked me to this rec list AKA "the perfect Mountain Goats song to listen to when (you are about to die in various ways)" and I was really intrigued. Turns out, they suit my taste pretty well. Steal Smoked Fish is my favourite song so far; there's something about the lines "feels so good to have you here/ some of you will be dead next year" that really gets to me. Spent Gladiator One is a close second, mainly because it reminds me of some SSSS characters - Sigrun, Emil, and Lalli specifically. If I ever make a SSSS FST, this song is definitely going on it. Anyway, I bought the Transcendental Youth album, and I like it a lot - I might do a review of it later, not really sure.
